griz Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Here is the scenario: You open a letter and it tells you that you have a year to live...you'll be healthy the whole time but then your brain just will explode(or whatever) in a year. Bummer... The next letter you open has a check for $100,000 to be used for climbing/training expenses til you kick the bucket... So what would your Last Big Climb be? Quote
ashw_justin Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Well, obviously something that would no doubt kill me... like snowboarding K2 or something what's the diff? Quote
griz Posted May 5, 2004 Author Posted May 5, 2004 May your brain explode 5ft below your dream summit... Quote
Dru Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 May your brain explode 5ft below your dream summit... i got news for you it wouldn't be even close to a first ascent...more like a trade route Quote
willstrickland Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 A new route on Great Trango, solo, on acid. Quote
griz Posted May 5, 2004 Author Posted May 5, 2004 Who would have thunk this thread would have degenerated into a 'Yo Mama' thread in less than 5 posts... C'mon,Dru, don't you want to ever climb higher than your post count? What is it? Or you still into 60 year old women? Quote
Dru Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 i would blow it all in vegas in a day cause dirtbag is the soul of climbing and money would only wreck it Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 This raises the question which was raised in 'Ghost Dog', which was from some anecdote about Lao Tzu or some such person. To wit: do you live as if you might die tomorrow, or as if you might never die? Quote
lummox Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 i would throw a kickin party for all my friends (both of them). bwahahah. Quote
Greg_W Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 i would throw a kickin party for all my friends (both of them). bwahahah. And buy some new lotion for your girlfriend, Rosie Palm, no doubt. Quote
Fejas Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 A new route on Great Trango, solo, on acid. Now your talkin! Before i even got through the origanal post, all I thought was free solo every thing I could imagine and if it killed me, then oh well... if it didn't I'd like to sky dive with out a shoot over the amazon or somewheres perrrrty... catbirdseat Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Free solo everything. You don't need much money for that except perhaps air fare. Leave a will so the money goes to your favorite charities. Make sure you remember timmy and jon in your will. They got expenses you know. "Where there's a will, prosperity is just around the corner". --W.C. Fields. Quote
rbw1966 Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 And for those who want to leave this world with a bang: cool ways to kill yourself Quote
arlen Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Idea 1: I wanna take the last breath I'm entitled to, so no free soloing for me, thanks. I'd look up that partner that always got on my nerves, and make sure I'm on the exposed pitch of a sweet big route when it's time to get room temperature. Let 'em figure out what to do next. Idea 2: I'd spend 17 cents on a postcard to the return address that explains how heads don't just explode but thanks for the coinage. Quote
catbirdseat Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 scrabble battlecage to the death. It would be terribly gruesome. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 It depends on where Annabelle is climbing that month. Quote
ChocChick Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 I would travel to all the places I have dreamed of climbing - with my boyfriend - and make sure I have at least 3 times a day. No soloing for me, I don't want to be lonely when my brain explodes. Hopefully that will happen on a summit or during . Quote
whirlwind Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 i already live like i'll be dead next yr, cept it'd be way more fun with money ( more traveling and climbing) Quote
