murraysovereign Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 Yeah, but was the song about a Hurricane? (By the way, it makes you wonder if they are wearing insulating shoes or something, doesn't it? All that power, and they're jumping up and down in piles of cords and stuff, in the rain...) There was an accident at a music festival in Winnipeg a few years back - a lightning storm blew in during a "big band" concert, and the band-leader took a direct hit. He survived unharmed because, fortunately, he wasn't a very good conductor. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 I am easily amused, but I get the chills every time Dead Moon's drummer Andrew pours Jack Daniels on his snare and starts playing. Replacements: Satisfied is one of my all-time favorites. Long live rock-n-roll Quote
ScottP Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 blind melon? Blind Melon Chitlin...the blues singer (Tommy Chong's alter ego): "You, you yououou, know what the difference between Rock-n-Roll and de blues, don't you? Rock-n-Roll is what happens when white boys try to play the blues. " "Gonna get my girl Gonna go downtown Gonna sing her a song Gonna show her my ding-dong." -B.M.Chitlin Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 "Whoa, how are we gonna fit THAT on the cover?" Quote
John Frieh Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Bitches Brew is definately an amazing album; not for everyone, but if you like it consider purchasing the box set. Is it just me, or has no on mentioned Rage Against the Machine? In no particular order: The Ghost of Tom Jones No shelter War with in a breath God I could just go on and on. Speaking of Rage (assuming you are a fan) pick up the live recording of their last show... it will only make you miss them that much more and hate audio slave even more. Quote

Off_White Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I am easily amused, but I get the chills every time Dead Moon's drummer Andrew pours Jack Daniels on his snare and starts playing. Replacements: Satisfied is one of my all-time favorites. Long live rock-n-roll Hear hear! Though I believe the Replacements tune is "Unsatisfied" isn't it? Brilliantly depressing, though perhaps surpassed by "Here Comes A Regular." Dead Moon at Dante's in PDX on 3/20 Quote
icegirl Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 maybe not greatest rocker of all time but Johnny Clegg and Savuka 'Dela' comes to mind... Quote

Fejas Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 I just wanted to add Rage against the Machine is a terrible band. Where a terrible band... The wife liked em, but I on the other hand think that Audioslave is a much better cobination of them and soundgarden... Quote
MrDoolittle Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 I just wanted to add Rage against the Machine is a terrible band. They did a pretty Rockin' cover of Minor Threat's "In My Eyes", better than the original, IMHO. Quote

Stonehead Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Any fans here of Al Jourgensen and Ministry? Quote
chucK Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Rage does a pretty cool cover of that Cypress Hill "To Kill a Man" too. Al Jourgensen was on NPR the other day condemning some T-shirt put out by some trendy store that says "Voting is for old people". I think people are taking this upcoming election pretty seriously eh? Oh yeah, another rockin tune is "Streetsweeper" by Unsane or is it "Vandal X"? It was on some Sub-Pop singles club single. Quote
