all that idealistic b.s. about doing something you love is a crock....

do something that pays well, and that you can get alot of time off.

life is too short to spend it doing something for someone else...

Here here. bigdrink.gif I totally agree.

I would love to have the heavy machinery to do the rock in landscapes with artistic freedom. That sounds cool 'cause then I could use the eqipment to do the most awesome landscape on our acre. Playing with rocks would be fun. bigdrink.gif

I would love to work for myself doing massage out of my home, or going to other peoples houses or offices. Not too many a day, just enough to keep me out of trouble wink.gif

I specifically remember a lecture one of my profs gave us senior year in college where he explained the difference between a job and a career. I always thought I wanted a career. Now that I've been out of school for 2 years, and working for 1.5, I've got to admit, a job ain't so bad. When I leave work, anything related to work stays in the building. 40 hours (or less) and I'm gone. Leaves a lot more time for climbing than if you're putting in 60-70 hour weeks. It's just not worth it, Erik's exactly right, life's too short.

That is how I would get INTO trouble

Couldnt' agree more Erik. I got back from Scotland last week, and noticed more than ever how much more simple life is there. People just aren't caught up in the cycle of working for money to buy more shit. They seem to be way more happy than we are here yet they have way more modest incomes.

I've spent 10 years away from Euroland, and I left being so critical of the lazy and unambitious wankers. Now, I wonder if maybe they knew something I didn't.

ANOTHER THING I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE YEARS IS WHO LITTLE PEOPLE VALUE THEMSELVES. THEY WILL ACCEPT SHITTY JOBS ON THE COMPANIES TERMS ONLY TO BE TURNED INTO A BITTER FAT SLOB.....BELIEVING THAT HAVE IT GOOD. WHEN I AM OUT LOOKING FOR A JOB, I DO NOT ASK WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE ME, I TELL THEM WHAT I WANT. I TELL THEM WHAT I WILL DO IN RETURN FOR WHAT I WANT.

SOMETIMES THEY ARE LIKE FUCK YOU, BUT WHEN THEY SAY YES YOU KNOW YOU ARE VALUABLE....

DONT SHORT CHANGE YOURSELF....

FUCK WORK!!!!

(AS I AM STUCK HERE!!!)

Years ago I sat next to a sales VP on a plane, and we were talking about work. I told him I'd recently gotten an MBA. He asked me if they preached that line about not getting your meat where you get your bread. I said "yep, and I adhere to that rule." This guy looked at me with a completely straight face and said "I've fucked every secretary that's ever worked for me."

I love what I do ... I get to think, have control over my schedule, and spend a fair amount of time outside in really nice places. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

sound advice, and a "work ethic" I find particularily satisfying smileysex5.gif (hard on relationships though if ya get caught)
