See if a pair of Salewas will do it. They come in width/length adjustable version AND a "scissors" style expando version. I don't think the scissors style will go as big as you need, tho.

I don't know much about Grivel strap ons, but other Grivel models (like my 2F's) can accomodate a size 13+ boot using extender bars. Did you check into that option?

SMC hinged, XL. Strap-ons...won't roll off an overboot when traversing steep slopes. Put on three buckles...one on each outside post. The inside posts...make all straps that connect to the buckles. With a little practice, you'll be as quick as a clip-on user getting them put on, and climb with more confidence---without the worry of them flipping off. Or as an alternative, go with a "mitten strap" system...or scottish.

Givel also makes some too, that are popular and is a good compromise. G12 model...they should fit. I also seem to remember they had an longer bar as an option...

for what it's worth i went over to climb max in portland yesterday with me size 13.5 koflach verticale and xl mountain hardware overboots...spent an hour trying on every brand of crampoon in the store (no small number)...nothing worked...the overboots simply put too much material over the lock points on the toe and heel to work w/ any clip-ons, and strap ons just couldn't cut it either... the whole combination is so bulky that most crampons couldn't fit over the heel section...one solution sort of worked , but they were very weak crampons (10 very baby looking points ) and it would have required extending the strap another 12 inches

perhaps this is why the overboots were on sale for 35$ ? no motherfucker in the universe could find shit to put over them? shame....

My sentiments exactly. Maybe it is cause i am a cheap, or maybe it is just cause i don't know any better, but I love my SMC's. bigdrink.gif

Now that's some good spray, Attitude! bigdrink.gif

I have a pair of Camp Aluminum Strap-ons, and they work awsome. I am pretty confident on taking them anywhere that doesn't involve rock or vertical ice, and they are light as hell.

thanks for the input...i've found another pair of overboots that don't have this problem, not nearly as burly though

as i'm doing an ice route on denali, i needed pretty strong points, so the wimpy 'pons weren't an option (the only kind that vaguely fit)

did look at those, but climb max didnt have the extender...this was the one that came 2nd closest to working...since i'm leaving in a few days anyway, i've pretty much given up on it
