Any suggestions on how to pry that thing loose? Here's what I did - throw that thing in the garbage (with violence) cause if you do get it unstuck, it will probably wait until you lean on it to catch your balance then collapse becasue the tensioner has been damaged. Then go to store and get some BD Flick lock poles or just some ghetto ski poles. Quote

iain Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 a preplanned dumping technique! such a positive attitude! Quote
sverdina Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 In time, BD Flicklock poles will get stuck as well...if you neglect them as I do. If lower half is stuck, wedge basket between your feet and pull. If upper half is stuck, remove lower entirely, wedge handle between feet and pull on the aluminium end with vise-grip pliers. Poles generally last one season of solid climbing these days I find. Finally used the trusty left hand orientation instead. Voila! I'm greasing the pole up right now. Should be spick and span in no time and Bob will indeed be your uncle once more. Quote
bubblebutt Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Buy some black diamond flintlock poles you cheap scottish bastard! ( i'm also a cheap scottish bastard so I'm allowed to say that) Quote
JGowans Posted May 30, 2003 Author Posted May 30, 2003 Yeah, I am a cheap bastard. No doubt. I may just go for some ghetto poles instead Quote
jja Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Even flicklocks will lock up eventually. The preventive fix is easy, just make sure to always take them apart while they are in storage between use. .. doesn't help you now though ... Quote
Pro Mountain Sports Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 JGowans, If you bring your pole by pms we can probably show you how to fix the pole and also how to keep it working smoothly. Quote
