  1. Lets wait one week for Owl and Thistle cause I can't come this week but can next week! Not that the world revolves around me, but it sure makes it convenient for me, plus I get to drink more longer!
  2. Erock, you are so full of shit or a weak athlete who thinks skiing is only done at resorts! Pull your head out of the snow and take a look around. I friggin' lap knuckle draggers except on lift serviced runs. Some people are willing to put in the time to learn something difficult. Snowboarding is for those who aren't. Ian, I learned on Asolo Extremes and 207 Karhu Extremes. I'll sell you the skis for cheap if you want. Voile 3-pin bindings with the plate. I also have some Merrill Super comps (leather/plastic) size 9-9.5 for sale too. Comfy as all hell with a little more support for the coast range snow. I also ski alpine skis with leathers no problem. Just buy a light (weight), intermediate ski with a sport sidecut. FUN! I did the Haute route in the Asolos/Karhus no problem. I fell alot when I learned, but seeing the other guys shred (this was back in '85) kept me inspired while I'd have thoughts of quitting. I can't express how much fun you will have once you can ski anywhere you can on alpine or AT gear. Keeps you in top shape too for climbing.
  3. Alex, I live on Bainbridge, but could concievably bring them to a pub club or something. Hopefully the hwy 20 pass will open soon, and then there will be the big Paaarty in Mazama too. If you want to ride the ferry over one evening, I'll pick you up and we can go to the pub for few
  4. Josh, Mt Washington in Sept/Oct with white cap and brilliant colors of fall leaves is one of the best sites I've seen on east coast. Try drugs for more enhancement.
  5. Chilis were on them, but not now, but can be easily again. With or without Risers. Not sure what year the skis are. Maybe 1998. They are Black and red. Skis are in excellent condition. I bought them 3-4 years ago, but only skied on them once before I got something I liked better. Basically too short for me, but I tend to like longer skis than the average bear. Was going to maybe put AT bindings on them but I'm never going to bother I figured out.
  6. Anyone able to give me a ride to the ferry terminal after if I make it??
  7. LL Bean sells a lot of stuff in "tall" sizes. Excellent quality, decent price, great return policy.
  8. I have practically new Red Chilis for $50.00 and some Merrill Supercomps size 9-9.1/2 for $75.00. Maybe we should have a ski swap at the ski fest coming up in Mazama. Also. I'll sell a pair of K2 Merlin V's (188cm)for $50.00.
  9. Rabbit runners rock. My Trangos only have 4 bar tacks (24kn). The metolius have 6 or 8. (stronger) I like them because when Ice climbing, you don't have to pull it over your arm which is attached to your tool unless you are leashless. You just unclip one biner from the other and pull it out. No getting stuck under your hood either. You can shorten them 2 ways. If you do the pass one biner through the other and clip the loops thing, you end up with a fairly long quick draw which is a good length for ice climbing. Or you can do that twice to make it really short. All in all a very light draw with many options. Why carry anything else on an alpine climb?
  10. Are you talking to me. I'm NOT going to Tacoma just because 3 people said they'd show up, sorry. It's not my fault there are about 20 people who like to drink in Seattle every week. I know I'm not a regular, but that's my problem. Just too far from Bainbridge for me. I will be in Seattle if anyone else wants to get together. I like meeting new people. PS: Skiing at Crystal was pretty good today!
  11. We will keep an eye on the progress of clearing the highway. When they announce a projected opening date, we will pick a weekend as soon after it opens.
  12. Just wanted to give a for the Snowboard Connection down on Alaska Way for their good service. Jason helped me thermo fit my Tele boots with new footbeds. I even got to while standing around for 10 minutes while they cooled down. Also, I'll reiterate my theory on buying gloves for ice climbing. Get snowboard gloves cause they're way cheaper and still just as burly. They got some down there for 40% off.
  13. Lets keep a watch and as soon as they announce a date, we pick the following weekend for the BIG BASH IN MAZAMA!!!!
  14. Hmm, it sounds like you shouldn't use your oven to heat the liners. I just got new G-fit Garmont tele boots and need to do the heat/fit thing. I didn't get them through a store. Any suggestions on where/how to get it done? I'm sure I should choose my footbed first though.
  15. Take 1" PVC schedule 40 pipe and rip it in half length ways. use each 1/2 with the U down and thru-bolt it to the bottom of the sled, using the plywood idea above for support. Angle cut the front of the runner. A couple of 1 foot sections in the rear should be enuff.
  16. Doood, I do not see Schoeller pants for $47.00 anywhere at MEC. I did a search and checked all outdoor clothing and clearance. Provide specific link or you are a liar! I'm interested!!!!
  17. WTF, it wasn't bad (yet). Who did that?? I knew Conrad before he was anything but another local SLC climber in 1984. He worked at Holubar which eventually became the NF. He sold me my first Ice tools; Chouinard X -tools. Picks had negative clearance! He was always amped up on some new project. Obviously he became what he wanted. Ran into him again in Yosemite and ended up going to a couple Dead shows with him (and others) in SF. That was all pre-NF and he seemed ok then. Wonder if he'll remember me now that he's famous and I'm not! I should go and check it out.
  18. The "write-up" for the EMS is EXACTLY the same as for the Walking Co. but they don't look the same. What's up with that???
  19. I love the glow in the dark frisbee. We used to play indoors in a long hall way. We'd chuck it back and forth at each other as hard as we could like dodge ball. It would richochet off the walls and it was pretty hairy. If the whole rope was glow in the dark, it would make a cool timed exposure photo on a wall at night!
  20. Friggin amazing....just came from my local sports store shopping for custom insoles for my new tele boots. I was going to start this thread and voila, here it is at the top! Local store pushed Superfeet hard. But they want $29.00 plus tax. Isn't that a lot for a stupid foot bed? What else is good. Seems to be some Dr. Scholl stuff for around $13.00. Someone mentioned Montrail makes a good one for around $20, but I'm not sure where to get those. Call me stupid, but if something is the "shit", is that good or bad??? What do you like, why, how much, where do you buy????
  21. A friend just got a seadoo. I HATE those things, so I thought I'd go try it with him to be sure. Good thing to do since I'll be getting wet anyway!
  22. I brought multiple gloves to Canada and ended up using my Cloudveils exclusively the whole time. For how thin they are, I was pleasantly surprised how warm they were! The leather is top quality (pigskin?) and survived all the raps I did no problem. I think these gloves are grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
  23. So I'm curious about the paraphanalia. Could this be a realistice scenario??? Guard: Welcome to Canada. Where you headed? Driver: Banff G: Purpose of visit? D: Ice Climbing bla, bla, bla G: Hmm, smells like dope in that car. Are you carrying drugs? D: Nope, we don't have any. We know better. Search away if you wish. search car...find pipe and empty film container G: What's this D: It the device we use to smoke pot. But we don't have any. Search away if you wish. Search reveals nothing. So, what can they do???
