Right on! I was pretty happy when I could return to that. Sitting in the hospital without that ability sucks.

It's hard to believe it was that long ago. CrazyJZ...now there's an old dude -
My mother grew up in CdA, and that's how I got to know a bit about the area. Lots of folks in the northern part of the state would be a lot happier without the south. One of the guys in the dorm got a piece of rebar shoved into his ass while on a dinner tray up by the Kibby Dome. The poor guy was walking around with a butt limp for a while afterwards.

Hmmm. Right now I'm just happy to be getting back to 5.9 at the gym. Even before I hurt myself 5.10 was pretty much my limit; though I'm only counting what I could do on an alpine route. I suppose I could spend more time at the crag, but I only view that as, "training for real climbing." That's just my viewpoint of things. I could see getting to 5.11, but 5.12 seems stouter than I'm ever likely to do. I guess I'm less worked up about grade numbers and more into cool routes on cool peaks. I do have 7 years before I hit 50 -
Abbotsford is only a short drive from Dru's cabin in the woods. Dru said:

Just the fact that you can read after going to school in Moscow makes me laugh. BTW: the rugby team changed their name to the Black Widows by the time I was there. Dusty Lentils must have lost its luster. One of the subjects I studied at school was sliding down a snowy hill on a dinner tray from the Kibby dome to the street.

I think you're missing one key point. Trees add value to a property. I'm pretty sure you're aware of the timber value a tree may have, but that's not the only way of calculating value. I have written up reports for homeowners who want to know the landscape value a tree has. Most often you would do this because somebody came onto the property and cut down the tree. In a typical homeowner setting the landscape value is often higher than the timber value. In this case the owner of the tree may want to log them all, but the trees add value to residents who see the trees from their houses. It's well within the rights of folks to make the owner submit a plan to the city for approval. The city may tell the owner to go ahead and cut away, but they may limit the total number of trees that can be cut, and they may impose replanting requirements on the property owner.

I went to college in Moscow and reading this made me laugh. "Idaho is not only number one in potato growing but produces the most lentils, too. Latah County is referred to as the Dry Pea and Lentil Capital of the World, where peas and beans are grown in the Palouse hills surrounding Moscow. The woman's rugby team took it's name from this The Dusty Lentils. Everybody at school called them The Dusty Lesbos.

I've been sticking with walking recently. I'm pretty happy that I've upped the long sets of stairs to 7 flights. That's a pretty good work out. I've never been much of a swimer, but maybe I should look into that. -
I hear that.

Sausagefest was a ton of fun. Cool pictures and cool people.

Ultimately folks who live nearby will have to fight it out. I'd only make one point in regards to trees. Trees do add value to a location. Both trees in forested areas and those near developed structures. Either by vote or through a developers plan trees are going to have to go if the decision is to build up that area with structures. If that area is going to get developed then the best plan is to remove all the trees that are either in the middle of the location of new buildings or those that are located within striking distance of the planned structures. Even if you may not need to remove a tree to build you have to consider the damage the trees could do to a new building if it were to fall. After the building goes up it's a good idea to require replanting of new trees. If done correctly the new trees will adapt to the new site better than leaving a tree but damaging the root system of that tree. Views are always an issue, but you have too keep in mind that the view you want are tree covered areas in the distance. Well people live in areas where their view is towards the new structure and the bluffs. I bet they don't want to look at a bunch of ugly houses or whatever in the middle of their view. You can pick varieties of trees that look nice but still maintain views for everybody. Anyway I hope somebody up their is looking over the shoulders of the developers up there and requiring them to take tree preservation into account or requiring replanting of new trees.

I wouldn't do that, but I could see Seahawks doing that.

Shit in a bag. Leave it on a doorstep, light it, then ring the bell.

I have seen fixed pins. It's always been obvious when that was the plan. I agree with Kev that fixed stoppers are rare and it's also obvious that somebody bailed and couldn't figure another way out.

I thought you posted a good picture of yourself. Sorry if you're getting unwanted attention. Unfortunately CC has a mix of posters. I thought you got some good response from people who actually count.

I'll be interested to hear how they plan to enforce this new law. Are you going to have to walk through a toll booth before you climb the mountain. Maybe they won't trigger a rescue till they hear a beep on the recorder.

This is what I've always figured. I always get plastic unless I need a trash bag then I ask for paper. You can put more junk in a paper bag than one of those plastic jobs

Lake City or Ballard. Lake City isn't a party hub, but you are one step closer to Index or 11worth. Ballard is a bit further to get out of town, but it isn't too bad. There are more nightime places to hang out at. I've lived in both.
