I'm not sure where to stand on the whole gun ownership thing. I do know a bit about driving a big truck. Getting a drivers license isn't too hard and most people do it. If you want to drive a really big rig you have to get a commercial drivers license. Once again if you want to do it you can but you have to take another test and drive your big rig around with a tester to see if you are doing things properly. Should we do something like this for gun owners? I don't know the answer. We could make the tests for guns that are primarily for hunting easy to get but a test for a gun that could be used to fuck somebody up harder to get. I know there are rules already in place, but maybe things could be more restrictive for guns that are less usefull for hunting but more usefull for people killing.

I don't know much about curling, but if you're in Seattle you can do it. There's a curling club on NE 130th just east of Aurora. There are more folks curling in Canada though.

You and JH like to battle over bolts why not up the fight to include ladders at crags. Tell us about the need for more ladders at craggs.

When I was there I got a kick out of watching these French guys who were out to set a speed record on the north col route chain smoking at advanced base camp.

Skiing both at ski areas and backcountry. Climbing trees. I've done this for work for a long time. It sounds just like rock climbing, but it's different if you want to do it in good form. It's fine to spike up a tree if your goal is to kill the tree. If you just want to summit then you need different tactics in the same way rock climbers look down on over bolting. Watching sports. I'm no diehard fan, but going to see a major league game can be a good time. Reading.

When I did Yak Check last we didn't have tennies; no big boots either. I didn't think the descent was that bad plunge stepping, but my partner is freaked out by snow and he had to face in the whole way down the snow. It all depends on how comfortable you are on snow.

I was just listening to an interview with Ted Stevens (whoever the republican senator from AK is) He doesn't have a problem with AK selling crude. He figures that it's going to come from somewhere. He's still thinks global warming is a problem, but the solution will come from making power users like car companies reduce the amount of fuel you need to drive all over. Sorry to jump into a music thread...I'm sure they will burn some fuel for the show; though it might be biodiesel.

I think Don Imus can say whatever he wants as long as he's doing it on his free time, or at least he's going to have to get a narrower paying audience. Once you start publically speaking on major media you get held to a higher standard. Given these standards I'm sure there are others that might deserve firing. Don made a big enough impression on people that there was an outcry. I figure CBS will drop him for good, but fans will still be able to pick him up on Westwood One (or whatever it is) somewhere. After all you can pick up all kinds of fucked up shit on the radio; just take a late night drive anywhere and start flipping the AM dials.
