Whether Bush actually SERVED or not is the real issue. Served his nose? Yes. Served his country? No. His enlistment in the Guard was an obvious dodge of Vietnam. In the grand scheme of his presidency this issue holds little importance to me in comparison to his deceit concerning Iraq.

I was responding to your calling Kerry a coward--not arguing military service as a prerequisite for political leadership, although thats not such a bad idea. Our choices in this election are not very satisfying (Dumb or Dumber?) but in this case I am voting for the person more likely to unite the world rather than alienate it. Bush's response to the Taliban was just, in my opinion. The war in Iraq, however, was unjust. Furthermore the Bush administration engaged in a systematic, coordinated strategy of lies and misinformation to justify this war which alienated our allies, reduced our stature in the world, weakened our influence geo-politically and increased the threat of terrorism against Americans rather than reduce it. For those reasons I am choosing what I perceive to be the lesser of two evils, Kerry.

Hmmmm. . .Kerry served in Vietnam but is a coward. Bush served cocaine (I might remind you of your critical attitude towards drug use) and the closest he came to combat was falling off his bike yet he is brave? Am I missing some logical connection here?

First, Kerry's military service cannot be seriously considered a 'career'. Secondly, his service shows more integrity than Bush's evasive behavior and LACK of service (and we won't even get into Cheney's behavior). Thirdly, how does protesting a war you served in discredit your service? I would argue that it reflected honorably on his service as he actually went to Vietnam, saw what was going on on the ground and came home to attempt to prevent greater loss of life to the soldiers he served with. I'm no fan of either Bush or Kerry, however Bush has shown that he will stoop to any length of dissembly to further his goals. I'll never understand this attitude that disagreement with your government is unpatriotic.

I suffered with pain, tingling and numbness for over a year as my doctor sent me through PT and pain killers. Nothing helped. On the other hand, ONE trip to an accupressurist erdicated the problem completely. I highly recommend this as a therapy.

I couldn't agree more. One of the best experiences I had was bonding with my father in-law on Gerlach in the Slovak Tatras. We didn't talk much but we shared the mountains and the challenge. Awesome day I never would have gotten with my own father.

Looking for something to do this weekend. Maybe a choss adventure a la Senior Dodge, maybe poach Wayne's route on the black spider or ? Could take a day off on either Monday or Friday but thats contingent. I'm in portland. I have a car and a rack.
