Yes, in fact you do have to have an FFL dealers license to own an automatic weapon. I see nothing wrong with requiring licensure to operate a piece of machinery that far surpasses the killing capacity of say a car.

Speaking from personal knowledge, you can break a lot of regulations and still get an honorable discharge from the National Guard. Quite a few people in the Oregon Natinal Guard merely stopped showing up for drill and received their Honorable Discharge a while later.

Not to nitpick AGAIN, but the purchase and sales of assault weapons was never "banned", rather it was merely made a bit more difficult. A pretty toothless law overall that drove the price of assault rifles through the roof. Additionally, AUTOMATIC weapons (i.e. "machine guns") were never banned either, just restricted to those with special licenses.

Maybe those stoppers were what MtnHigh dropped from my rack on Sunday. Special thanks to Mr. Honeybucket who salvaged one of the fallen stoppers for me.

No kidding. I felt sorry for those pooches. We were sitting at the top of the first pitch listening to them whine and trundle rocks down the gully. The dogs owner was sharing our belay with us when he finally decided to bail. Good thing for the dogs.
