  1. with old style camalots you can walk protection up the entire pitch with a #4 and a #5. Also, climbing the OW with a small pack isn't bad if you just loosen your left pack strap
  2. saweeet pics ross!!
  3. nice avitripp, that's just what I was thinking too. good work guys! That's a proud link up. Salish looks superb!
  4. Blake- I'd do crampons and no axe. the snow should be easy for you, but it's hard in the morning.
  5. should be fine climbing in boots. It's likely that the scrambling couloirs below long john tower will have some snow in them, but that shouldn't cause a problem. you might find snow still on the north-side traverse out of the west ridge notch too. the crux on the summit pyramid gets tons of sun and has been dry for a while. go for it!
  6. Thought folks around here might be interested in this:
  7. just look under "Dongler"
  8. do All Along the Watchtower on the N. Howser tower. fits your description perfectly. good info here: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/685460
  9. no route is safe from Le Ciel!
  10. just saw this (I didn't find the stuff), but thought I'd cross post it http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/spo/340471586.html Reply to: sale-340471586@craigslist.org Date: 2007-05-29, 10:01AM PDT I found some climbing gear stashed on the side of my apartment building on 15th Ave NE. My guess is that someone broke into a car and stole a bunch of stuff, went through it and threw away what they didn't want. If you can describe it accurately, I will make sure you get it back. * Location: Ravenna * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
  11. wait, I thought Colin was aid. I think that means their route is a sport climb then. the longest sport climb in the world!!
  12. pm sent on overboots
  13. way to go guys. This is the kind of high quality innovation that comes from continued support of local/smaller businesses. The bag looks so sweet. cutting down foam pads is such a great idea and the hoods are exactly what you'd want. I think you guys should really consider building a single-person version. just chop the exact same design in half. while the double definitely saves weight for two people overall, a single version would still be significantly warmer and lighter than any "regular" bag for the weight. it may have wider market appeal too.
  14. C3s are awesome too
  15. whoa, more like summit ham! John- why do you look like an oompaloompa bro?
  16. does a double heli bacon cheese burger count as epic??
  17. Man, what a fun route! The first pitch was definitely delicate climbing but with good gear for the crux on the right (#2 angle, .75 camalot). I knew John was enjoying himself on the 2nd pitch when I heard the distant sounds of crampons scraping on rock John, you're right about the upper part of the route climbing the gendarme bypass, except that most summer features on that were buried in snow. some more pics: John following pitch 1 John gets his rock on about mid face fun steps near the top Remembered the ear plugs this time, but should have brought the gas mask too and Team Harro rocks! Just don't let John do the route finding
  18. wouldn't that be the rubber soul route mark?
  19. I'm driving over to leavenworth friday morning if anyone wants to hitch a ride for the w/e
  20. the lowe alpine attack summit (30L) is able to shorten up and ride above my lower back. But you're probably looking for something larger than that. I think you should design a wicked alpine wheelbarrow.
  21. I climbed it once in early may. It was mostly snow free as it generally gets some south sun. The 2nd pitch was covered in verglas, which made it a little spicy but you could avoid a lot of it. The ramps down to the first/only rappel were snowy.
  22. good work guys. I'd wondered about it as well. Scurlock has a nice picture of it:
  23. Nice work Colin & Dylan. beautiful tribute
  24. Sorry guys, not what you thought! Pax, I finally found a dog to match your pink blouse:
