  1. Anybody getting psyched for summer yet? The view east from the summit of Bear Mountain in about 2002:
  2. More from the slide archives....North face of Vesper looking frosty!
  3. Dorado col sunset, back in August of 2007:
  4. A scan from a 2003 slide. You know, back when you could walk up the White Chuck to Dakobed in a few hours.
  5. Chisos Basin night views in Big Bend National Park:
  6. Thanks for the report! Like @AJScott, I need to get back in there....was just looking at the west ridge today coming back from the ski area....
  7. Cool! But I want a photo of the cornice failure, that sounds....uhhhh.....exciting. Oh Boy, have those killed a few really skilled people over the years. Glad it wasn't you guys!
  8. Anybody climbed Shiprock? I understand that you aren't supposed to now, more wondering who did it a long time ago.... looks compelling!
  9. That would mean going over to the dark side @genepires. I have been trying to hold onto the mystery of the 90's for as long as I can.
  10. Dreaming of the Spearhead....
  11. A very good point. Do you know of other names for those other than the couple (Clean Slate, Sweet Sweet Death) @dberdinka came up with? It seems like everything up there has a least a few names depending on which generation you are talking to.
  12. This run probably has a name, but I refuse to download the app:
  13. Very true. Maybe @dberdinka was just the first to spray about it 20ish years ago.
  14. Weren't you, along with @dberdinka, the first to ski that @genepires? A fun run when the bottom isn't too bony!
  15. @Trent making some scenic turns on the Thunder Glacier.
  16. Those are great images Jake! All are a good reminder that the best camera is one you will have in your hand in moments like you've shared. Unless you have it handy, you will miss the best shots nearly all the time. So, a lot to be said for the smaller SLRs. I really would like to lighten up at some point with a mirrorless setup. I am thinking Z6 or Z7, but I'll probably have to wait for mine to die.
  17. Carefully descending Whitechuck many late falls ago:
  18. I would recommend getting really quite good at skiing in-bounds before you buy a BC setup. Get a used in-bounds setup and a season pass and get so you can ski anything on the mountain well. Adding climbing gear and crappy conditions (when the climbing conditions are good, the skiing typically is challenging) is not a recipe for fun if you are an intermediate skier. It is much harder than you think, and the BC is no place to hurt yourself. And @Bronco gives excellent advice RE boots and skis/bindings. I would add that going a bit heavier on your ski setup will make it easier if you aren't an expert skier. The folks at ProSki can answer all your questions and are a great place to buy your gear. Evo is good too. Good luck!

Totally nuts! Wow....all of it. I am just learning to ski, got some work to put in.
  20. Sorry, been a busy stretch at work.....Back to the task at hand, the Spearhead!
  21. What??!! You climbed Forbidden, then Stuart, then Sherpa- back to back to back weekends??!! Amazing! Well done!!
  22. Nice work! I've always wondered about that one.....sounds like it is tough to nail in fun ski conditions. You would know how best to hit it, so this is good advice!
  23. I just want to chime in again to remark how RAD this ascent was. Wild!
  24. WELL DONE! Such an epic adventure, thank you so much for detailing it all here!!! And.....a lecture immediately after??!! You, sir, are a machine.
