Just like the Bulgarian method, Mike.

Hey will people still be clipping bolts when the routes are underwater from overheating the planet?

I'm pleased to announce that cascadeclimbers.com has teamed up with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to help spread the word about the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer and raise Breast Cancer awareness. We are currently donating a large amount of ad space and plan on doing this for the foreseeable future. One in 8 women in their lifetime will be stricken with invasive breast cancer. You undoubtably have a friend or relative that has been stricken with this terrible disease. Please take the time to learn about this amazing organization and great cause.

Hey Detached we could have just moved the thread for you Didn't realize it was in the wrong forum. -

So let me get this straight Kimmo. You are saying that people should use the Bulgarian method for training instead of "Periodization" (I put this in quotes because most people don't understand periodizations principles, and often under or overemphasize them) based on the assertion that doped to the gills Olympic athletes (being more genetically gifted in lifting then you or I) were the "best" in the world using that method?

There is nothing private about this. It's just a ploy to think you are special. All you are doing is screwing local shops that can't even buy that stuff for the prices they are selling it for. I love to score a deal, but don't buy stuff from places like this when your favorite local gear store sells it.

Dude everyone except Fairweather saw this on Countdown with Keith Olbermann tonight. That is soooooo 8pm.

Do we need a poggo stick or a parachute for your leaps in logic here?

Any individual Olympic lift is one movement, done the same way every time. The effort isn't any longer then maybe 5 seconds and relies completely on the ATP-CP system. Even the most intense climbing is much longer then 5 seconds and relies on all 3 energy systems, high degrees of neuromuscular endurance, and in constantly dynamic and unrehearsed movements(lacking highly refined neuromuscular coordination). You can't compare the two.
-
I'm not saying I completely disagree with you about periodization not being the holy grail, but could you chose a WORSE example? You are comparing Apples to Slugs.

Hell yeah man crush dem flakes.

Peter are you really THAT BIG of an idiot? There is nothing contradictory about this. The money did go out the door immediately to the agencies that disseminated the money. It still takes time to figure out how to use it responsibly. The NIH put out RFAs almost immediately upon Congress giving them the money, applications were due for the most part at the end of May (it normally takes up to 4 months to write an application) notices of awards were given out in September. For one set of grants they had 20,000 applications for 200 grants. The turnaround was lightening quick to the normal application process. We are just getting to hiring for the grants we received. One figure I've heard is there is still 70% of total stimulus money to be spent. You just can't realistically disseminate that much money, responsibly, that quickly. Well unless you are Bush and you just give it to Blackwater and Haliburton.

Krugman posted a similar thing in his blog last week. There is not enough stimulus money to curb rising unemployment. I just recently interviewed 3 people for a job opening. 39 applied for the job and made it through HR vetting, likely more applied. All of the 3 were pretty much overqualified and were taking substantial (30%) pay cuts from their previous work.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and donated money. Hope everyone had a great time, glad we were able to get this event back on track. I don't have a final count yet but we raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500. We did have 3 people walk out without paying their food bill, which we got stuck with. We know who you are. Since this was obviously an accident please get in touch with us and we'll get it figured out.

Hey where is the rest of the beer? And why is a case open? We've got at least $2000 worth of stuff to raffle off. Jackets, like 7 Packs, tons of T-shirts, A rope, Camalots, Biners.

Now that is a great first TR! Thanks Mikester! -
I read this story about this Portland gallery trying to sell this Chihuly piece for months and months. The gallery finally called him up telling him it wasn't selling. "How much are you selling it for?" "$3000" "Mark it at $30,000." It sold the next day. There are the Kenneth Lays' of the world who will buy shit just because it is expensive.

As long as you don't listen to Jim Cramer you are cool with me.
