  1. I remember my 4th birthday party at McDonalds a few days after, it was pretty "foggy" out and people were cleaning the windows.
  2. Christian Peterson at The Sports Medicine clinic did my shoulder last week for a SLAP tear and a loose body. I can't say enough good things about him, friendly, to the point, efficient, both him and his nurse are highly competent, and were always on time. Mike Rogers at Paragon Fitness for PT. Mike is long time competitive athlete, coach, and understands athletes. Anyone needing a foot guy Tom Chi in Bellevue might be the best doctor that's treated me, I've seen the "best", and I work with physicians on a daily basis.
  3. Dru I haven't watched Dragons Den recently was this a good deal? Would Kevin have put his soldiers in play?
  4. I'm pleased to announce that we have partnered up with the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to help them promote The Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up. The Foundation lends support to the childhood AIDS pandemic in sub-saharan Africa in the form of medical care. Like our support with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, we will be providing free advertising to this important organization. http://www.helpchildrenwithaids.org/ http://www.climbupsokidscangrowup.com/ Having worked in AIDS research the last 12 years I cannot overstate the amount of human suffering that is occurring in sub-saharan Africa due to AIDS, Kaposi Sarcoma, and KS associated lymphoproliferative disorders. There are regions were the HIV rate is over 50% and villages were the KS rate is 90%. The hospitals are so poor that people who can afford chemotherapy treatment sit in the hospital without any nursing care because the hospital can't afford latex gloves. These pathogens are evolving and are becoming increasingly aggressive in young children. We'll be posting more information about this great organization in the near future.
  5. The camera is nice because it can take a beating. I have a hard time getting pictures I like with this though under harder light conditions. The shutter lag is fucking terrible. The flash is unpredictable. It's great for the beach, but when your hands are freezing the lag will make you want to put pick through it. Before this one I had a Nikon S210 which I got at Costco for $100 and it was awesome. Great pictures in all light with no shutter lag. Not the most durable though and broke with pretty small drop. I just wanted to follow up with this and say I would not buy the Olympus as a primary compact camera. Another ding I discovered is that they have their own size media.
  6. Him. I appreciate you sticking up for Luke.
  7. This is a friendly reminder that there is no spray allowed in the climbing partner forum.
  8. Hey Everyone, The Sierra Club is running a membership special for $15, which includes their monthly magazine. Check it out. http://www.sierraclub.org/
  9. Didn't see this posted!?? Colin Haley, Mt. Foraker, Alaska; with Bjorn-Eivind Artun. A single-push first ascent on the southeast side of Alaska’s second-highest peak, one of the biggest unclimbed faces in the central Alaska Range. Jasmin Caton, unnamed peak, Tasermiut Fjord, Greenland; with Jen Olson and Kate Rutherford. An all-free route up a beautiful pillar in this remote region. Joe Puryear, Karjiang, Tibet; with David Gottlieb. The first ascent of this stunning pyramid, at 7221 meters among the highest unclimbed summits in the world, employing the strictest leave-no-trace ethics. Scott Adamson, Mooses Tooth, Alaska; with Tom Adamson. A new route on the east face of this legendary Alaska peak. Toby Grohne, Siguniang, China; with Jesse Huey. A super light and fast alpine ascent of the 1500-meter northwest face, a major mixed route on this 6250-meter peak. Dylan Johnson, Dojitsenga, Tibet; with Josh Wharton. An all-free, alpine-style ascent of the east buttress of this stunning and seldom-visited 5662-meter peak.
  10. In Canada you have to pay for healthcare based on your wage, its really not a big deal, there is no making you buy a product its your health coverage, you dont get jailed you have to pay for your health thats all its really quite simple and there is no one world goverment its just paying for your health care. Then when you get hurt you just go to hospital and they fix you for free and then you leave its really quite simple. Then at work you get extended coverage so that your meds and glasses and massages are all free. Seems to me there is so much fear mongering going on For objectivity's sake, prefacing this with I support the recent passage, there are still some problems that will not just effect our system. Mainly medicines for potentially terminal or highly debilitating diseases, and later in life diseases. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/cancer-treatment-becomes-perfect-fiscal-storm-for-canadians/article1511180/ I've actually read a lot recently in Canadian news where it's been recommended for people to have prescription insurance because of the increasing costs of life saving/critical therapies. A lot of the more recent therapies for cancer, autoimmune disease like Lupus and MS, are relying on antibody (ex. Rituximab for lymphoma) or complex in vitro (ex. Provenge for Prostate Cancer) therapies cost at least $10k a month, up to $50k per treatment. More and more of these therapies are being developed as chemotherapeutic candidates are being exhausted for disease. It's one direction medicine is going that I'm very concerned about.

And is there room for Sarah, Bill O', and Glen? Imagine, Sarah can give Rush a BJ, Rush can give Bill O' and HJ, and Bill O' can give Sarah a ZJ! What about Glen? He will just continue with his closet cocaine habit.

When does Rush's plane leave for Costa Rica?
  13. I've been pretty much skiing full time on my Gotamas partly because I'm too cheap to buy another set of skis right now and partly because I've become a powder snob, but they ski fine on groomed. Edge to edge they are going to be slower then what you previously had but unless you plan on hotdogging it underneath the chair who cares. I'm a big fan of the PM Gear skis too. http://www.evogear.com/skis/volkl-gotama-2010.aspx
  14. I'm no expert but if you are riding for 45 minutes and are sore for 2 days you need to lower your intensity a bit. Below is graph of how ideal training works. You apply a stress, the body degrades, and then overcompensates. The key is to start your next training at the peak of overcompensation. The harder the training stress the lower on the graph it goes and the longer the recovery phase is. If you start you training before overcompensation starts you basically go nowhere. Back it off a bit and ride 5 days a week. As far as translating, I've found that cardiovascularly and energy system wise it's great, but muscularly if I haven't been putting a lot of hiking miles in with a pack I'm a wreck, especially after long steep descents.
  15. I'll try to fix that next week.
  16. It's time for a genetically modified pine beetle virus.

    Should be fixed now.
  18. I've been towed in on skis by a sled which is a good option. Know a few folks that might be able to hook you up with a tow if you don't know anyone.
  19. Baseball is so fucking boring the managers are having to use cocaine to stay awake during the game! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/03/17/washington/index.html?hpt=T2
  20. I was amazed at how bad the problem was in Banff driving through this summer. I just figured it was cold enough there to avoid the problem. Hey mtn_mouse what do you do for work? This is most intelligent thread on here in a while LOL.
