If your looking for something new at Vantage there is the Winterlock wall and the Cube. It's located across the canyon from the Feathers. Drive past the Feathers parking lot about a mile and there is a turn off on the left hand side. Hop the fence and walk NE along a maintance road until you see a trail an obscure trail on the left. You can see the Cube (which is actually two big blocks) from the Feathers to give you an idea where it is. There are 5 routes(?) on the cube from 5.8 to the 10s, very short but fun. Be careful of poison oak between the blocks. On the wall there are a few routes, I know there is a 10a requiring some small gear on the start and a .9 next to it. Both these are two pitches. If you blast past the first anchors you can be lowered to them from the top with a 60m rope, and then rap off those. The rock has been cleaned but I'd definately take helmets as the area is pretty loose. I wouldn't call it a destination area but worth checking out.

Ich bin sicher, daß sie sich nicht kümmern, um wenn ich einige Einflüsse außerdem abbreche. OH-Scheiße, sprühe ich jetzt?

We made a three story high beer bong in college. Like getting hit with a fire hose.

I was hoping you wouldn't notice if I put the zipper there, obviously you tried to give it a pearl necklace.

I clone sheep and Caveman makes velco gloves, and we sell them out of our van in places like T-town. Very lucrative bizness. Hey blakley your order is ready, and hurry up, they are crapping all over my yard. I actually work in a research lab studying the virus that causes AIDS associated Kaposi Sarcoma.

Blow me dude! Sorry I'm not behind a firewall, ye'll get hacked eventually. No, the FBI is taking my hard drive, so I'm SOL. I just want to thank the IIS team at M$ for making my week miserable.

I briefly dated Jim Wickwire's niece in college. She wasn't much of a climber but ....

Schultzy's in the U District, not close to any climbing but unfortunately for my bank account very close to Pro Mountain Sports. I'll second the Deschutes Brewery, incredibly good food and well... the beer rocks.

I thought it was "There aren't any stupid questions, just stupid people!" Do doo doooo... Mounties! Dan, way to stay strong through the hazing, just a couple more tests before initiation, one involving some velcro gloves... you'll do just fine.

Marmot in Bellevue always has small shoes in their sale area.

I'm in the same boat as Alex, though my car still runs with 200k miles. The one before that was a 76 Volvo 242 Sedan with 300k. Man I loved that car. I know I'm going to get clobbered for saying this, but the newer Subaru Outbacks are awesome. Yes tons of people have them. Yes half the REI parking lot consists of them, but there is a reason, it's a very good affordable car. My folks bought one in last June and I've borrowed/stolen it on a few occations for trips. It is very roomy, very fun to drive with decent power, and gets killer gas mileage (33 highway). The thing is amazing in snow, I've never driven a car that stuck to the road like that. In December I was caught in what was the most scary heavy snowstorm whiteout that I had ever experienced (10 hours from Seattle to Spokane) on I-90 going to Spokane and the car was just velcroed to the road. I was looking at a truck (Donge Dakota Crew) that gets around 18 to 19 MPG but after driving down to Bend a couple weeks ago in my friends "I'm from Bellevue MILF mobile" V8 Grand Cherokee and spent what must of been $100 on gas, after that I don't know if I could handle having a car that gets such poor mileage. My one complaint with the Outback is that the rear seats don't fold down all the way and if you are somewhat tall sleeping in it isn't as comfortable as under a truck canopy with a nice setup. Hey Caveman, is that you in this shot? [This message has been edited by jon (edited 06-22-2001).]

******IMMEDIATE FEE-DEMO ACTION REQUIRED******* Please call your Representative and ask him/her to support the DeFazio Fee Demo Amendment to the House Interior Appropriations Bill. The Amendment, sponsored by Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) would limit the Fee Demonstration Program to a one-year extension and keep the caps on the number of sites to which it applies. The vote will take place within the next 72 hours, so this is an urgent request. (Dial 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with your representative. Tell the person who answers that you live in their district, you oppose fee-demo and wish your Congressman to support the DeFazio Fee-Demo Amendment to the House Interior Appropriations Bill). Currently the Interior bill allows for a four-year extension of the program, which essentially makes it permanent, and lifts the cap on the number of places where the agencies can charge fees so that the agencies can impose fees at as many sites as they wish. Specific Reasons to support the DeFazio amendment include: 1) The General Accounting Office (GAO) is studying the administration, management, revenue distribution from the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program. This report, requested by Sen. Craig Thomas (R-WY), will be ready in September. It is premature to lock this program in for 4 more years before the GAO report is available. 2) The Recreational Fee Demonstration Program has met with considerable opposition from conservation and community groups across the nation -- over 200 organizations oppose the program to date. 3) A recent Forest Service Study indicates that the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program is having a "significant exclusionary impact" on poor people who live near National Forests where the program is active, and that they are staying away from these lands because of it. 4) .... any personal reasons you would like to add. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Scott Silver Wild Wilderness 248 NW Wilmington Ave. Bend, OR 97701 phone: 541-385-5261 e-mail: ssilver@wildwilderness.org Internet: http://www.wildwilderness.org

Outside Mag can kiss my ass. Gee, I wonder why they chose PowerBarf, could it be the hundred$ of thousand$ in adverti$ing. Give me a break. Every big magazine chooses PowerBar, man they taste like shit and there is nothing optimized about them. You are right about choosing one that tasted good and works, some people can't handle certain foods on during vigorous activity, I've found my stomach doesn't like oatmeal that much because it's too heavy. If you don't want to crash eat something with a little simple carb, some complex carb and lots of protein, like Promax bars or something comparable. Protein gives you the most bang for you buck/wieght, helps your body repair (not just refuel). I don't want to go into the metabolic biochemistry of the whole thing but I will if people keep eating PowerBarfs.

SportPharma ProMax Bars - $1.09 at Trader Joes which is an incredible deal because elsewhere they are over $1.59. These are by far the best tasting energy bars I've ever used, and they work incredibly well. 280 Calories, 50 from Fat, 20g Protein.
