I don't know why, but it will get fixed by the end of the weekend.

Terry- How is this Hammer stuff? Rumor has it that if you send in 10 empty GU packets they will send you one free. I kind of agree with Bronco about time involved, but I'm going through this stuff fast so cheaper is betta. It would be fun to try to make the stuff even if you don't save any money, like brewing your own beer.

Time and direction dude?!

Have you guys tried adding Histidine or anything like that?

The new system is actually a lot different, look at your sent messages and you'll see it actually starts a whole thread with the correspondance for that person and subject.

I think that adding caffine would be a nice touch though. Yeah the stuff is a little expensive but would be fun to experiment.$70 for 100g of USP grade L-Histidine.$41 for 250g of USP grade Caffeine. So would you say that the homemade GU works pretty well or when all is said in done a pain in the ass? [ 11-01-2001: Message edited by: jon ]

GS skis are definately stiff and made for wide turns, and are typically a lot longer. I've got some K2 GS races at 207 with racing bases and a Derby Flex and they are they are absolutely fucking scary to ride on, way too fast and you really have to work to turn the things, aren't any fun in the powder. They're a blast on anything groomed bu basically it's a "hasn't snowed in weeks watch me carve turns on ice better than you" ski. I would not recommend a ski like this to anyone except a few of my more insane friends. I was skeptical about fat shaped skis when they came out but after owning my first pair I'm a believer, you truly ski better with them, especially in powder. Forget the GS/Slalom crap, go find a pair of cruising skis and have a blast. I have some Fischer Alltrax Expeditions with some risers on it and it an awesome ski. If they hadn't been killed by a rock I would have throw some of the new Fritches' on them for backcountry skis. People put risers on tele skis?

The Who's Online is coming back but in a slightly (and I think better) form probably by this weekend. I can hack the board to show the private messages at the bottom, I agree that is a pretty cool feature, should be done by tomorrow.

Does anyone know why they close it?

This is from Andy Fitz, will be put up with a link from front page soon.----------------------------------------------ACCESS FUND TRAIL PROJECT:THE BEND (TIETON RIVER AREA)November 10, 20019:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This one-day project will complete work remaining from a trail project in April, 2000. We’ll be putting the finishing touches on trails built last year (which replaced multiple eroding climbers’ paths); creating one section of new trail; building rock walls to shore up some belay areas; and reseeding old trail areas. We need at least 15 VOLUNTEERS to finish up the work. No tools or experience are needed! Just have work gloves, wear sturdy shoes, and bring your own food and water. There is undeveloped camping nearby. The Bend is a columnar andesite cliff located 25 miles west of Yakima on U.S. Highway 12 (approx. 3 hours from Seattle; 2 ½ hours from Tacoma). The cliff features over 70 routes (mostly cracks, with a few sport routes) from 5.7 to 5.12. 70% of the climbs are in the 5.10 range. The crag is located on land managed for wildlife habitat by the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife. By addressing climber impacts, this project helps preserve access to the area. For details and to volunteer, contact Andy Fitz, Access Fund coordinator: Phone: (253) 761-7866 E-mail: fitlan@home.com Please volunteer in advance so we know how many to count on. GIVE A DAY TO HELP PRESERVE A CLIMBING AREA!

So I'd like to get a feel for how people like the new message board, anything that is different that you don't like. I thought I'd also explain why we upgraded the thing. So why the upgrade? Basically better features for you, better admin utilities for us which makes our lives easier, and it's faster which keeps the hosting company off our backs (some companies don't even all them). Additionally the people who make this message board are phasing out their support the old and new hacks (scripts to add features) are only being made for the new one. So it was really a logical choice for us. I know the format has changed a little bit, but it's pretty much the same thing. Some of the features like the active topics and who's online will be back, we're just having to work them into the new system which will take a few days, hopefully then things will be back to normal. We may have done the upgrade a little prematurely and I apologize for that. It doesn't sound like people like the ratings and which is fine, I just wanted to see how well it worked. In the future we may implement some sort of it where only people with good ratings have them shown, but I'll basically leave that up to the users if they want that kind of feature. If you have private messages from the old system send me a private message and I'll be happy to email the file to you. It's unfortunate that they aren't compatible, but now that it's integrated we should never have a problem like this in the future. A better active topics script should be ready tomorrow, which will fix the thing on the front page and will be like before, and will show post from the previous day. The one that came with the board sucks and isn't configurable. Can't really think of much more. Thanks for everyones input, you comments are really important. Jon

So I've turned the rating off for now, and if I do reinstitute it we will start from scratch. So do people want the feature or not, please say why and pros and cons not just yes or no.

quote: Originally posted by Pencil Pusher: I found some of my PM's accessible, others were inaccessible. Very funny. I think these graemlins are a pain in the ass. The rating thing is bogus too. I admire your efforts into this website, but my opinion is I prefer the old. Very funny huh? You must be one of those people who just complain (aka bitch) but fail to offer a solution. I've turned the rating feature off for the time being, it's becoming a distraction and I failed to provide any reason for using it and what criteria should be used. I'd be interested to hear in the other thread if people are interested in having this feature and what the pros and cons may be. As for the old PM's, there is a problem with accessing them and I haven't had time to figure out why. If you want the actual file I'd be more than happy to send it to you just send me a private message, though it is a little garbled with code but readable. I did offer this warning though http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=24&t=000002&p= Party on! [ 10-26-2001: Message edited by: jon ]
