  1. It's a pretty easy climb overall, but I'll tell ya it is steep the whole way, reminiscent of the Neideprum trail. I could be wrong but I think it is something like 4280' gain in 2.6 miles or so.
  2. Trip: Mt Baring - Standard - West Ridge Date: 2/20/2010 Trip Report: Took advantage of the good weather last weekend to celebrate my buddies birthday with a scramble up Mt Baring. This is the second time I have done Baring in the Winter and once again found the crux of the route to be the steep ice filled gully in the woods on the South side once you leave the ridge and head up into the basin below the gully between the North and South peaks. Enjoy some photos! Saturday Night Boulder Cave Spelunking Sunday Summit Day
  3. I grew up in Verlot and have spent nearly my entire life climbing in the cascades (20+ years). I have never carried a gun in the mountains (unless I was hunting) and don't feel the need to nor the desire. I just don't see the point.
  4. Nice, saw folks working that last summer as I came down from Dick Ridge. Rockfall to climbers right of the route, towards Strawberry Ledge and the cave above Big Tree?
  5. I am petitoning to have the moderators change your user name to DAN THE MAN! another nice one!
  6. Don't I wish that was the case for me!
  7. Way to get it!
  8. This are fully just for the fun of tinkering. I am thinking if anything I would consider using them for low angle rappel anchors. The fun is really in the fabricating!
  9. I am curious if anyone has experience making their own pitons. I have been messing around and making some bail pins and would like to see others projects and hear thoughts.
  10. Dirty Socks - Marble Canyon Backstory : No toilet paper on first ascent!
  11. That is crazy talk!
  12. Agreed. I guess what I've been using all these years is the SSS. Never knew that's what it was called, if that's what I'm even doing. In 25+ years of climbing, I've never dropped anyone or had anyone deck while I was belaying them, so I guess I must be doing something right... And before anyone says, "What about Dane?", that one doesn't count, cuz he hadn't placed any pro before he pitched off.
  13. Looks good! Thanks for sharing. And more kudos to Sadie!
  14. Right on to after work cragging......in the dark! Sweet!
  15. We walked out from the Madrone wall around 4:45. We caught the couple off guard as the girl was hooting and hollering about something as they came around a corner on the trail and saw us three ugly old men and she apologized saying" Sorry I am stoked on life". Cheers!
  16. OMB - Were you on Erie Saturday with a lady friend? I was out on Saturday as well. Saw a few people. Down near Madrone and Mounatineers wall and at the Powerline wall.
  17. No Beer! That is taking it too far Kimmo.
