  1. Holy crap Piston! SCARY! I guess I will just keep climbing alone.
  2. Scared - Interesting piece of gear. I have one similar but the cam is a solid unit with a channel in it to allow the stem which is also one piece to pass. Will post a pic this evening. The mark on mine is pretty much rubbed off can anyone tell me who produced and when? Thanks, Tyson
  3. I don't want to be the guy to tell him he can't.
  4. Looks fun. The pics are really cool. Cheers.
  5. I worked up at the mountain last Winter and always got a kick out of the report. My personal favorite is "Packed Powder". I think all areas fudge a bit on the reports in an effort to bring in the $.
  6. Good Karma on you buddy! Nice to see someone out there with heart.
  7. Jeez Don, I have never seen the "incredible research and analysis to well written summary" button on google. Thanks for the interesting info!
  8. Spot on Ivan!
  9. Now that is what I am talking about! I love it!
  10. Nice trip Darin. The photos are great!
  11. I am not a huge fan of regulations. Especially when it comes to outdoor pursuits. I do think that there are times when ideas should be strongly urged. Such as the use of PLBs/MLUs on climbs such as Rainer in Winter or Hood or what have you. I see this as being similar to the Mt Baker Ski Area regs for heading out on the Arm. Beacon,Shovel,Probe, Partner and Knowledge of conditions and Terrain. I disagree with not initiating a rescue lacking a PLB/MLU. As a rescuer I feel that anyone in need of help deserves the help. What I think the MLU/PLB offers is an increased chance of rescue and hopefully more positive outcomes.
  12. I can see the logic in this post and would second it both from the climbers stand point as well as that of a fellow rescuer.
  13. Right on Sloth!
  14. Bill - I just saw an ad for Big 5 sporting goods. SPOT for 49.99 after mail in rebate. I do not know if you have those in your area or not but that is a sweet price.
  15. Didn't Hanman post something about this last Winter?
  16. The glorious Mountain Loop Highway - Granite Falls, Washington. I grew up in Verlot and I think the Mountain Loop is the Shiznit! Let's go Darin!
  17. I have heard debates within the rescue community about the precision of the SPOT. If memory serves me well, it seems most of the discussion was about the fact that a SPOT has put rescuers way off course due to less than optimal triangulation. I think everyone I have spoken to was referencing the SPOT1. I think Rad has it though. If your wife is happy..... I have never had need for the Avalanche Beacon I carry but it is better than not having it and it makes my girl alot happier.
  18. Nice trip.
  19. Way to go man. Nice pics. Hope to catch up with you again.
  20. Way to rock the shiznit!
