Ding, ding , ding! It is in fact the Allen Henshaw Pre Memorial route. We actually approached it from the top using the Sunset Slabs trail and then traversing and climbing back up to it.

Ahh daggers! You know Curt you may have a point. Did I mention TICKS! Really big hungry TICKS! Maybe that will help dissuade the masses!

Trip: Mt Erie - Various Date: 4/17/2010 Trip Report: Spent the day dodging raindrops at Mt Erie. Found some dry rock here and there between showers. Did a full tour of the place with two succesful leads, one attempt and numerous tope rope laps as well as the full hike around the South aspect top to bottom, West to East and back up again. Ticks abound, as we were attacked by a rogue band of the parasites on the scramble back up the east side. Only shot a few pics - Name this crag for a nifty* prize! Pics -

I am guessing here but is JK an ex military? My good friend and life coach Rheindeer Baconburger is ex Army and I am sure I have heard him use the phrase. It had been a long time so I thank you for the flashback.. Given what I see in your sense of humor, penchant for suffering and libations, if you are up the WA and want to get some hot, smoky granite in the Darrington area this year, let me know. I think you may find our merry band of miscreants a fun experience. Cheers

Hot, smoky , slaby hiking with righteous headgear... What, wait.....who doesn't like slabs...big, hot slabs......?!?!

Dang - I wish I could make that work.

Damn - looks too hot! Good thing you had them smokes though!

Ivan - I really dig the shot of the "cum shrouded Tetons" Mt Baring, with the lights of Index. Super cool! Nice TR. Cheers

Josh - Make a packing list of what you think you will need for each trip. Pack said equipment and check it off the list as you pack it. When you get home remove all things from the list that you did not use or realize you just don't need. As you gain expereince you will find that you really do not need much for the average weekend out. Forgetting a basic like a sleeping pad is just bad form, sometimes it happens but two times in a year seems just forgetful/neglectful. The list idea helps you think through the process and it really will help pair down the unnecessary crap that alot of people take with them. The less extraneous stuff you have = the lighter your load = the easier your load is to handle = the more yo can get done = MORE FUN and LESS SUFFERING.

At least the sense of humor is still intact!

Right on John. As a father to be I find this post quite inspiring! Thanks for sharing and kudos to the hard man 9 week old in the open bivy. Love that! -
All right folks, I have the most up to date list available as of 4-7-10. MountainManDoug suggested at the end of the evening last night starting facebook page for those of us that are so inclined, to have a single post avenue for linking up with folks. I liked the idea. Having to PM an increasing number of people with an updated list is a time consuming chore. That being said , I took a few minutes this morning and made a group page on Facebook entitled Bellingham Evening Top Ropers (BETR), for lack of a better name. I have made this a private group in case people want share further contact info on line, so it requires a request for access and at this point since I am the only admin, my approval. The list is already up to 12 people so there is potential here. Anyway here is a link to the Facebook page for those that are interested. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=112758352084534
