  1. FYI if your buy/return ratio gets below something like 2:1 or 1.5:1 the "take it back" part gets a bit more difficult
  2. Um, isn't REI a Co-op? technically, yes. practically they've been changing their bylaws for more and more "corporate" control of the poor governance kind and taking advantage of a distributed ownership which has for all practical purposes fuck all control. As an example: previously REI Members (Owners) had the ability to nominate a candidate for election to the Board of Directors by collecting a number of signatures (I believe 1% of members - there's a thread here on cc.com with more) they've eliminated that. JayB- try buying Ski Touring or Telemark gear, the selection is increasingly poor with a number of stores that used to stock not stocking anything at all. If you are going to order online, why be hampered by a retailer that has local presence?

  6. Argentina is a pretty good place to get drunk and laid. So's Brasil. Peru's cheaper, has awesome climbing and.... the climbing season is best in our North American summer. Give it a full year at college and head down in May/June
  7. Is that writing on the side? perhaps worth pointing out that the Edelweiss and Eagle have historically been more than just corporate logos.
  8. note the use of "planning" and not "have sold" the above financial fairy tale is mostly bullshit now if you are going to save up your money - Asia. Pick a country; it's the future ('cept Japan).
  9. there aren't really any trains flights to Argentina/Chile are cheap. Save up the a $k or 2 and fly.

  15. Tough guy tard. I Love it! Not sure what your business is/was in the PRC, or why you feel the need to boast about your travels in this forum. Lots of folks have been to China--it's no big deal. You speak Chinese? Congrats. I speak Spanish and a fair amount of German. Nobody cares. In any event, I can assure you that touring with a group of your fellow whities and a government liaison in a micro-bus or a cobalt-blue Landcruiser doesn't amount to squat vis-a-vis your earlier 'spoon-fed' comments. Fuck off. BTW: Do you speak Bod Skad? http://friendsoftibet.org/main/execution.html uh, Fairweather, Western businessmen have a much bigger hardon for China than liberals do. It's an authoritarian business state; whatever's good for their friends business they'll do.
  16. oh they will after the real estate collapse
  17. also one on the annapurna trek; seen it in Kashmir and southern India as well. New Zealand and Europe to... so anybody seen it in Africa? Curious if it or Mt. Fuji are the most reproduced real mountains in the world? (assuming the Paramount is the most reproduced "mountain")
