  1. quite the story. several years ago two climbers were air lifted off Deanli, then flown to Anchorage where a taxi was waiting to take them to the hospital. on the way the two had the taxi driver stop for pizza. ..."hello 911 operator, where are you and where would like to go; what food would you like provided on your flight today..."
  2. Way to get after. Nice. Your photos are wild. Congrats!
  3. Oh wow, that sounds like fun. And if the knee lock doesn't work you can try cramming your head in the crack and giving it a twist - a skull lock; then you can let loose on the hand stack and wave to Mom. There's a reason someone called this "carnival crack"
  4. Hey look at it this way - your last pics is great. Very funny TR, loved it!
  5. Much safer to free solo......
  6. +1 Exactly - couldn't have said it better. You ought write for Fortune or Business Week

  8. Skied MSH last Sat., May 8th. Road to Climber's Bivy closed. Skinnable snow starts about a mile from Marble Mtn. sno-park. I skinned most of the way except booted with crampons between 5 & 7K. Hard in the AM, softening by noon. Lot's of folks just booting up it. Good ski/board conditions. Leave early - high avi danger! You need a permit now.
  9. East Buttress, Mt. Whitney
  10. ...yea, that's from PDX'ers going to Calf. and bringing back holds to glue on their test pieces at the Gorge....
  11. Interesting, I was MSH Sat., looked totally socked in from our vantage point; guess not if you were on Adams.
  12. Trip: Mt. St. Helens - Worm Flows/Monitor Rodge Date: 5/10/2010 Trip Report: Skiied St. Helens on Sat. May 8th. Road to Climbers Bivouac gated and closed. Left Marble Mtn. Sno-park @ 6AM, walked about a mile to skinnable snow, reached the crater rim about 11:20. Skied down starting at noon. First few turns were a few inches of dust on top of hardpack with marbles. After that it great until turning to sloopy near the tree line. Snow was hard on the way up, softening up quick on the down. Fun trip! Back at the car at 1:20. I'll add some pics when cc.com upload thingy cooperates. Gear Notes: Ski crampons useful. I didn't have 'em so I booted up between 5 & 6K. Approach Notes: Road to Marble Mtn sno-park is snow free.
  13. mattp; Thanks for setting this up. Nice to meet you all.
  14. Great set of pics! Looks like a pile of avi debris in that 1st photo, was it recent?

  21. Very entertaining TR; awesome 1st photo.
  22. It didn't look any of the routes except OS had had much recent traffic up them. EoS looked dirty.
  23. No appology needed Dane. Passed an old pin at the finger traverse and though that would been tough driving that baby home while hanging on with one finger. 40 years ago 5.9 was heady stuff.
  24. Don't know if they were glue ins, but the cold shuts were pretty shiny. Tom S. belayed from that anchor (3rd pic in my OP), so maybe he could provide better info.
  25. Thanks for taking photos - now I can experience the descent vicariously; 'cause I'll never have the balls to ski that thing.
