It is a reasonable question and in hind site, after tragedy, most folks probable think it's not worth it. I wonder if people ask the same question about driving on the freeway?

Reminds me of the funny story about my Grandpa... Those of us that are old enough, may remember the iconic commercial "Help, I fallen and I can't get up" commercial, an add for Lifeline. Anywho, about a year after my dear old Grandpa Willard passed away, we are watching tv when this add comes on and there is my now deceased Granpa. He says "I'm having chest pains", whilst clutching his chest and falling. No doubt it is him as he is even wearing a shirt my Mom gave him for Christmas, which always had to have two chest pockets. Pretty weird to see your dead grandparent on TV and have no idea how he got in the add. To this day, we never did find out the story of how he ended up in the add, but we guess he was at the Dr office when they were filming and asked him to be in the add (since he was quite a ham). Maybe he was keeping it a surprise and passed before it aired? Who knows? Enter the Google/YouTube era and now you can see all kinds of remixes of the old add on YouTube. I agree but also wonder if the type of snow (wet & icy) is also a contributing factor? You would think that we get enough snow to the point where most folks would know how to drive in it, but apparently not. It makes sense that drivers are crippled by snow in places like Vegas, or Southern CA where they rarely get any snow, but Portland? You hear the news on the radio/tv and they make it sound like we got 10 feet of ice, when we just got a few inches. I used to deliver pizzas in Park City, UT and loved the days when we really got hammered. Tips were great, not many other drivers on the road and nobody complained when it took an hour or three for the pizza to show up. Plus, it was a blast driving around in gnarly winter conditions. Good times.

Or, if the terminology is not fitting, just grab an old inner-tube and go tubing instead... Seems like a bit of hair-splitting here.
