  1. Anybody know the story about that small black dog that hangs out in the road with the WAAAAY overgrown coat? It kills me to see that poor thing drag itself around under that mass of matted fur all summer. Please PM me if you think there's a way a non-confrontational way intervene on its behalf(ie-perhaps its owners are decent folk who'd be open to having a groomer come by if it were on someone else's dime?). Thanks.
  2. How does one go about getting on Mariella's Christmas list?
  3. Sounds like we came to the same conclusion(about finding finding real partners instead). Although I quite like the the Rocker for running laps when I'm on my own, it has been is collecting dust this year cuz so many folks have been kind enough to partner up with me.
  4. You do that, too, Sherri? I am always having dreams where self-propelled flying (and also falling from great heights and recovering before the splat) are the recurring theme. That's why I think those wingsuits are so Exactly! I love those dreams, they feel so real...would be awesome to experience that sensation and be awake. I can also breath underwater in my dreams. Keep us posted when/if you get into the paragliding, Sobo. Would love to hear about it!
  5. Man that looks FUN! Reminds me of how it feels to fly in my dreams.
  6. Then you'll be set for Index, as well.
  7. Wow! I see why they call it Inspiration Peak. Beautiful shots!
  8. There was a full-on waterfall coming down that wall when we hiked up to check it out last weekend. Hope it dries soon!
  9. That's good advice there. I think Roger's Corner was my first 5.9 lead in Index. Don't forget that sometimes it is actually easier to lead a climb than to follow it. It's important to start with something that suits your style, too. The suggestions above offer you a wide range of styles, from burly to thin. Work your way through them according to what felt the best when you followed, and build your confidence as you tick each one. Rattletale is another good one to train on.

Oh no. Banning from Spray?! Pleeze, not THAT! I can be bitchy if I try reeeealllll hard. Just ask Rob. On the other hand, being banned from spray would free up five minutes out of my day.

I think your cranky days are over now that you're a free man, Sobo. That was a great TR you put about your Goose Egg adventure. Hope to see a lot more of that sort of thing from you once you grow some scar tissue and get the all-clear from the doctor. There will still be plenty of summer left to enjoy. Hope we can rope up soon thereafter, Sweetie!

  14. And a patient belayer.
  15. Well, that about covers it. I love those discussions, especially when they randomly insert some unscientific turn of phrase. It's like weather poetry.
  16. Great info and thanks, JMace. I was heading up there Sat with a few of the same objectives...might push the trip back by a few days to get the most out of our time there.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. Nice vid!
  18. Looks fun! Thanks for the stoke and great pics.
  19. Sweet! So glad to see you getting out and having a good time on the rock before the surgery, Sobo. Best wishes and hope you mend quickly so we can finally swing leads on Canary. Take care 'til then-- :kisss:
  20. I was more or less the biggest guy out of the group and it just made sense to do it that way. My buddy only weighs about 150 ibs and I don't think it would have been faster whatsoever for both of us to carry him, probably more awkward in the long run. Fair enough, Marc. Sounds like you guys handled the situation well.
  21. ???? I think there's another lesson here. Glad to hear he made it out ok. Thanks for posting about your ordeal and hope your friend heals up quickly. Take care out there.
  22. I call dibs on Bill. And, Mark, sorry to hear someone's hassling you. Good luck getting things sorted out.
  23. I was pushing 40 when I STARTED to climb. So don't consider yourself getting "old"--think of it as having a head start. You'll get to where you want to go. Just make sure to have fun along the way; after all, THAT is what makes the time really count.
