I think I may have seen you yesterday. My buddies and I were ice climbing on Bryant. Water was still running under/behind the ice and was verglas towards the top of the pitch. Hopefully, there are more cold temps in the next few days.

I guess some areas like Flanders will be open which is better than nothing.

MEC Takes All POLYCARBONATE off Shelves
Hendershot replied to David Trippett's topic in The Gear Critic
"The plastic in question is made mostly from bisphenol A, which mimics estrogen and is derived from petrochemicals. " Does this mean I am going to grow tits? -
Leavenworth or Snoqualmie Pass on Saturday?

Damn, thanks for the heads up though! -
I dragged my Dad out towards Ice Lake the day after Thanksgiving (bad idea) with the intention of scoping out the falls a couple miles in. Didn't spy anything cause we didn't get that far, but it's worth checking out. Park at the trailhead at Wallowa Lake and take the trail on the left side of the road. Snowshoes were not necessary.

The Imperial Inn ($50) was the most poorly managed place. They didn't know if they had any vacancys when I tried to check in. The guy had to go look in the rooms. One was unlocked, one was dirty, and one had a dude sleeping or squating in to. 30 minutes just to say, Uh I don't think we have a vacancy. Lewis & Clark ($65) was decent. I heard the Royal Seven is good from someone else also.

Ice/Mixed in the Canadian Rockies - Books needed
Hendershot replied to Panos's topic in Climber's Board
If you are headed to the Canmore Festival this weekend, they will have books there. Joe Joesephson sold me Winter Dance out of the back of his car last weekend in Bozeman. -

It's almost here! Friday and Sat have an overcast, highs around 15 degrees. -
The joint rolling machine is poor form. The bong was a giant leap in technology but doesn't increase laziness. Besides, potheads need to grow up and do coke like an adult.

Makes sense in a backwards way. Other officials don't want to encourage Ford spending his own money, because that would set a precedence for others to do the same. It's kinda like when we close down a lane for 2 months to fix a pothole. How many times have you drove by signs that say construction area, during normal business hours only to have no one on it? Seems like they need to spend that money, just to say next year that they need the same level of funding.

I am in the same boat Nate, I tried the Scarpa Phantom Lite size 47, but had some heel slippage. Pissed me off cause I got them for $300 and didn't want to return them, but had to. Have you checked out Kayland? The Super Ice and M11 got good reviews, but they are hard to find. I saw some Lowa Cristallo size 13 at Seattle REI garage bin for $175 last time I was down there, but hesitated to buy cause they were heavier than other models. There have been some recent threads comparing the boots you are interested in Trango vs Nepal.

First I bought the Joker (9.1 rated as single, half & twin). Then did more research and saw the advantages of a half rope system an bought am 8mm, thinking it would pair up as a half with the joker, but haven't tried it yet.
-
Do you guys always try to pair one half ropes with an identical one? Having not used a half rope system yet, I was thinking of having one at 8.5 and another at 8 mm. Am I off base?
-
Some people just got to be the first to own it, like the iPhone. The real joke would be if someone bought them. Hence zero bids.

Chuck Norris's urine is bottled and sold as a beverage, we know it as Red Bull. Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer, to bad he never cries.

Dang, was hoping for a 47. Thanks for posting though

Driving to Eastern Oregon tonight after work (Red Bull). Will wander around Eagle Cap Wilderness with snowshoes like a touron

Size on the Scarpas?

The socially redeeming value means I have to be PC on all posts outside of spray. I also think twice before putting in my 2 cents in a spray forum, lest i incite a STFU nOOb response.

Twin ropes used as regular halves = death?
Hendershot replied to jared_j's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
For what it's worth, I was looking at the same rope at Second Ascent to pair with my Mammut 8 mm and the associate suggested I use it as a half rope. Seems like you weren't the only one given the same disinformation. -
I thought the Venoms have interchangable picks. Couldn't you just throw on a Laser or Alaska pick? BTW Alaska picks are on clearance at Seattle REI for $12.

I wish logged on for this thread before I saw Beowolf last night. Had I known it was all CG, I would have skipped it. It wasn't even partially CG like 300. The Imax was sold out so I went to Cinerama. Is it my fat ass, or do the seats at cinerama lean back to far?

Sizes?
