  1. I can't wait for the post-pre-spray sloppy seconds TR!
  2. Banned, sadly.
  3. I think I'm in there. Immortal!!!
  4. Right now? Or right.....now? Because right now it's snowing up there.
  5. Did I run into you on the trail on your way down?
  6. Please install a ladder at each crux.
  7. While I agree with the premise of wearing a helmet, i think this is a simplistic comment to a much more complex inquiry that Bala is making. I'll add more complexity, then: if he had not been wearing a helmet, he might not be here still, or his concussion would be something much more serious. What a gift! Life! Live it!!!
  8. Moral of the Story: Wear a helmet.
  9. Here's a fun experiment: try to break the carbon fiber shaft on one of your tools. Then you will appreciate its durability. CF composites are some of the toughest materials around. Unless you see actual fibers sprouting out, you have nothing to worry about. Even then, you'd still have nothing to worry about.
  10. Not Not much choss in Hafner.

    Fucked up...

The Bible's pretty sweet if you're into incest, too. Not my bag, but I guess the Christians think it's hot. How much incest in the Koran?

    Fucked up...

You want to read about some serious violence, check out the Old Testament. Fucking GORE! Rob Zombie should make a movie about it, a la "House of a 1000 Corpses" or "Devil's Rejects", it would be pretty sweet. I'd love to see how he treats the part where the Dad (some "Holy guy" or some shit) lets the dudes rape his daughter instead of take his goats or whatever. FUCKING AWESOME!!! OLD TESTAMENT KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I declare Jihad on this thread.
  14. Early season snow on top of an old, sun-baked, snow pack, and a big avalanche the next day. Surprise? Regardless, back on topic, fresh snow down to 3500' this morning, and it's raining at 300' as I type, so expect increasingly winteresque conditions and a poorly consolidated early season snow pack, IMLTPO.

    Abortion

"She'd had, like, eight abortions." is the correct way to describe the situation.
  16. Actually caught a glimpse of the Twin Sisters and Baker on the drive to work this morning (my commute has SPECTACULAR views). Sisters got snow as low as 6000' but have seen some significant warmth, as the upper rocks are showing through. Baker, and Colfax specifically, are fully plastered with snow right now, there was barely a hint of rock showing on Colfax, just a mass of fluffy white. No opinion offered, just the facts Jack. It was quite chilly out here yesterday afternoon, and last night was pretty cold in town, but it's supposed to rain some more tonight and tomorrow. Have fun getting to the East face of Lincoln.
  17. Mattel Toy Cars Make More Money Than GM I say let them die. Car companies that actually make cars that don't suck, and that people want to by, will fill the void. GM et al have lobbied against high mileage standards for years, now they're fucked. Quick: Name GM's gas sipping hybrid. Can't!
  18. Ministry's "Filth Pig" would be a good choice, or "Piss Angel" by Pig Destroyer.
  19. Oh. I thought this was going to be a review of Mike's bathroom reading masterpiece.
  20. Hopefully the forthcoming Monsoon will be followed by a hard freeze: * FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT * A SERIES OF FRONTS IS EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE REGION TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR VERY HEAVY RAINS OVER THE MOUNTAINS. THE FIRST FRONT IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD RAIN ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON EARLY TUESDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT AROUND 4000 FEET THEN RISE TO NEAR 6000 FEET IN THE AFTERNOON. THIS FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ANYWHERE BETWEEN A HALF INCH TO ONE AND A HALF INCHES OF PRECIPITATION OVER THE MOUNTAINS. A SECOND...STRONGER FRONT THAT HAS ENTRAINED TROPICAL MOISTURE WILL RAISE THE FREEZING LEVELS ABOVE 9000 FEET AND SPREAD HEAVIER RAINS ACROSS THE AREA. THE COMBINATION OF A STRONG WESTERLY WIND IN THE MID LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAINS ALONG THE WEST SLOPES OF THE OLYMPICS AND CASCADES TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OVER THE OLYMPICS AND CASCADES TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO EXCEED 3 INCHES WITH LOCAL AREAS ALONG THE WEST SLOPES EXCEEDING 6 INCHES.
  21. I use the Canadian Method: abandon my partners and head down to the hut so that I can get some shuteye.
  22. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........let me just soak this moment in....mmmmmmmm......yesssss....beautiful. If you actually believed your own words when you wrote them, you probably have the barrel of a gun in your mouth right now. My advice? Pull the trigger. Otherwise, your life is going to be quite miserable....horrible...dreadful......living in a United States of America led by President Barack Hussein Obama!!!!!
  23. You Need One of These Runs on 110V, I think my fuse is 15amps for my whole shop, with no problems. If you're going to weld anything that has to have structural integrity, any rookie can use one of these. Gas is a pain in the ass and takes some real skill. Depending on the cuts you're making, you can get by with an abrasive chop saw or an angle grinder with a cutting wheel. Cutting with gas takes some skill to get a clean, straight cut and leaves a lot of dross, which requires removal with a grinder before you can weld it, which can be a pain in the ass if your cuts are complex. It's also really easy to warp thin gauge material. Oxy/Propylene gas is also a great way to go if you're making a lot of cuts in thick material (we used it to cut the ring flange and the Sun/Moon on the Astrolabe, less dross and super-crazy hot and fast. You adjust the torch by cranking up the fuel/O2 until it you start to get scared of the thing, then you add even more fuel and O2.
  24. Here's some advice: Oxy/Ace Cutting Torch MIG Bandsaw Unless you're making jewelry. Here's some projects I've either built/designed/or both: 2008 BTC Welding Rodeo 1st Place Amateur Division (Astrolabe): 2008 BTC Welding Rodeo At Least Last Place Pro Division: 2007 BTC Welding Rodeo 3rd Place Amateur Division (Centipede): Summer 2008 Patio Railing Project (Close to 2000 Cuts, built in-situ, in progress): Let me know if you'd like to place an order...
