I think Stewart Copeland will be the first to spray on cc.com as well as his own blog from Everest. Stewarts Deprecation Blog The show was good although you could see a few rough edges yet. The cell reception allowed me to read cc.com and do the occasional email for the whole train trip except for the deathzone of Kelso to near Vancouver. What's up with that? It's not spray if you use supplemental oxygen....correct? -r

Did it bear any resemblance to this fellow?

Note to self: The Bear costume gig for stalking is no longer viable.

I am on the Amtrak Train coming back from The Police Concert. I'm connected to the internet on my laptop through connection sharing on my BlackJack from work. Instead of working, I am reading cc.com. I am so glad I can spray and be unproductive anywhere I have cell reception now! -r

I was hit by a car in Tigard on March 1st. It was unpleasant. I have not dumped underneath the Ballard Bridge (yet). -r

I heard the next edition of "Freedom of the Hills" will have a chapter on cheating. That should really clarify things. -r

Thanks for posting this. It's really a very cool accomplishment. Congratualtions. -r

I've managed to accumulate some stuff over the years that I don't use and cannot get rid of it on Craig's List, The Yard Sale etc. I'd like to do some spring cleaning and find a home for old boots, an ice axe, etc. Is there some non-profit group that has an outdoor program that would take this? I am less concerned with the $$ than finding a good home. A tax deduction would be nice though. I appreicate any help. -r

Trip: Recent Mt Hood skiing - South Side Date: 6/1/2007 Trip Report: We've made a couple of Friday outings (5-25 and 6-1) on the Hood south side. It's been good skiing despite the warm temps on 6-1 and the crowds on the standard routes both days. The upper crater seems to soften around 10:30. Expect the lower part of T-line to be nasty if you catch the upper mountain when it's good. Here are some pictures (some posted elsewhere already) South Side lineup Some general ski porn Thank you Jeremy and David for being better photographers than I! -r Gear Notes: Helmet, whippet and alumnimum crampons... um oh yeah Skis. Approach Notes: Skinned to the corner aroud the Hogsback. Watch for ice chunkage from humans and nature on the crater.

I use the Grivel AirTech Light (New-matic) with my AT boots. They do the trick well, although I wish there was a Cramp-o-matic version. -r

I second the "Cool". Good TR! The route looks in great shape. I really like that route. Maybe I need to alter next weekend's plans! -r

Ugh in the early 80's I did most of my Math\CompSci degree under the influence. In fact I was so stoned taking an Ordinary Diff EQ final that I cannot remember much of it. I was complimented by the prof on "creative problem solving". None the less, I seemed to do well grade wise. But that was the 80's when pot made you smarter... right? I wonder if I look back today on my CompSci projects if the code I wrote was complete shite..... -r

Do ya think? -r

So you could run a spamming opertion from prison. If they catch you, um what would happen? They would send you to.... um well. By the way [TR] Men's shower with Bubba needs it's own special area. -r
-
That would explain why some cc.comer's never post trip reports. -r
-
I hear they now have access to the interweb in prison. -r

I just read the OR legislation is abandoning the MLU requirement debate in light of a new bill that will require skis or snowboard for all descents on Mt Hood. -r

Try picassa. I put up some ski videos and one of an any from earlier this year. The quality is better than boo-toob. -r

Back in my younger days (late 70's early 80's), I had a buddy who wrote for the "Coolest Retard" magazine out of Chicago. He used to get us backstage passes to all sorts of shows in Milwaukie (at some small club). We saw and partied with The Damned, Flipper, Husker Du, X, Gun Club etc etc.... Ah the good old days.... -r

One of the sets was kicked by me yesterday (5-25). We had to get around the lineup. The saving grace was that we didn't wait in line to descend. Thank goodness for skis!
-
As of today (5-25), the two Pearly Gates chutes have well distinguished steps, and the "Old Crater Variation" has a "hard to miss" boot pack. The biggest hazzard today was the large number of rope teams all jammed up trying to descend the old crater variation. On a more positive note the snow at 11AM up on the crater was "A-1 smile on your face" corn. -r

This is a bit off topic, but put those bread or newspaper bags around nalgenes or soft bladder type deals to keep any condensation, drippage, absorbed water etc off clothing. I've not had a bladder explode on me though. So far so good. -r
