  1. Th elittle local pizza place had a party the other day and sent a manaquin up outfitted like Walters. I watched it rise maybe to 9 or 10K, then hang and move towards the airport. I lost interest shortly thereafter. I wondered what would happen if the wind knocked something loose and it fell from that height. -r

    Feeling blue?

The article didn't suprise me a bit. I am of the (non-MD) opinion that many people think that at all times in life, things should be rosy, or at least un-sad. I agree that there are organic disorders that need medication. I am not talking about these situations. The example of getting anti-depressants instead of facing an unpleasant financial issue is classic. When I am not sleeping at night or feeling down, it's because something in my life is in need of some change (again, note I do not have an organic condition that would warrant legitimate anti-depressant use).If I start medicating my brain from this sensation, it's like taking a bunch of pain pills to run a marathon. It's probably not huring short term, but the long term detrimental effects will suck in a big way. -r

    Uses for Bamboo?

I own a Bamboo Bike. It rides stupendously. I used to fly fish with a Bamboo rod. There was a fellow in town who had the whole heat treating setup and could take raw bamboo, cure, shape etc and create these amazing rods. -r
  6. Good call Sobo! There are hundreds from "the master". "A nickel isn't worth a dime today." "You can observe a lot just by watching." -r

  8. It's going to be a long time before I can climb or ski Leuthold's. -r
  9. you mean I will be able to climb more than I do right now? If you body holds up, yes. Are you spending enough time with your kids? I recall all the Saturdays I spent at swim meets. With all of them 18 or older, it's a lot more flexible, but there are still obligations to be met. Even when my kids were big into the Junior Rock Climbing scene, there was little personal climbing involved. In fact being at a swim meet not climbing might have been better than being a belay slave at a comp watching others climb all day! -r
  10. There was one crevasse opening up around 9.2K It had a few holes forming, and I noticed someone had punched through on foot. It's all pretty obvious and easy to deal with at this point. -r

  12. The day was great! Cross link to my TAY report I had a perma-grin on my face too despite the invasion of the intestinal nasties. Dan, I was glad you carried on as it was just about as good as you could ask for climbing and skiing. A couple of Snowdome laps on great corn made up for not continuing. -r Gear notes! Hiking moraine scree in AT boots bites. Lesson learned.
  13. I think you are right, I sort of wish I was climnbing to ski now. This (Sat) afternoon looks to be the best weather. However, ticking off July skiing on July 1 has some advantages... July 4 looks warm and sunny. -r
  14. OK so our romp up and down the Sunshine route on Hood is probably more driving than you bargained for. PM me since my climbing partner is coming down from Seattle. -r

    I am in seattle

I was in Seattle on June 6, it was raining.
  16. I'm really happy with LaSportiva Nepal Evo and my Trangos. When I climb around here, they are more than adequate. I spend a lot of time in ski boots on the mountains and really have to deal with a lot of overwarm and persperation issues. I'm happier in leathers, but they don't work so hot on my skis! -r
