Ice Partner Wanted this weekend.....

Bump. I am still looking. Any takers? I am driving from pdx to strobach in the morning. Let's climb some ice. -
Shoot me an email if interested.....please be able to follow WI5 or 5+. Thinking strobach so you want slow shoes as well. If I can I want to make a two day trip out of it into strobach. Hike in early saturday camp and climb sunday then hike out and backto pdx...... Cheers, Bryan Schmitz bryan.m.schmitz AT GMAIL

anyone go to strobach this weekend?

Anybody know the weather station link to the one that is up on Dome peak? I thought Rad posted it in an older strobach thread a year back or so....

jungle cliff? -
the beehive is great for backcountry skiing, but the ice is not consistent enough to make plans. The ice in beehiveis melt thaw and best in the early spring when snow conditions are more stable. The ice around bigsky is short and lame. Go to hylite its worth your buck. Also consider the window rock cabin up in hylite just past the lake, it is an often overlooked accommodation. Then you wouldn't even have to drive back into town. I actually think it is less then $50 a night which is cheap if your got a couple others with you. Have fun Bryan

From bigsky to the hylite parking lot is more like a two hour drive..... minimum 50 minutes from Bigsky to Bozeman and then another 45 to get into the canyon depending on road conditions... I went to school there, so unless you got a helicopter I wouldn't recommend that drive. Also that road between bigsky and bozeman is the most dangerous in montana. There are plenty of cheap hotels and hostels in Bozeman

Get it while the snow is minimal. Such a different experience then my previous ascent. Highly recommend the earlier season ascent when turning the pencil doesn't have the avy hazard it does the rest of the season. Thanks John, for a great partner to make it possible. -

Sounds like a good day. Can't believe you drove the red devil all the way up there. Any pics of the sandcastles? -

If I started the secret club, I would tell you, but the access is a lil iffy so I can't/not allowed to post that information. I don't agree with it, but I didn't put int he bolts. sorry
-
Anybody wanna go scratch up some routes on Saturday 11/10? Competent belay skills are all that is needed. Cheers, Bryan
-
Doubtful you would fall there, but if you did I think it is doubtful that bolt would hold. I am pretty sure I clipped a screamer to that one as well.

Ben doesn't remember the descent cause it was damn near dark when we finally launched down the gully. I distinctly remember calling my girlfriend on top to tell her I was safe, but had to go or I was going to freeze my balls off if I didn't find the right way down soon. In fact right where you took that second to last picture of Ben I remember putting on my headlamp. Jealous. Sounds like a terrific birthday! Think the three of us need to make some plans for a Yose trip this next spring. You two climb anything else?

anymore of these this year?

I have a bunch....like 12 you in pdx?

Just one question: How wet was it?
-
love that feeling on P2 of Atlantis when you do an all points off sideways dyno for the flake/jug that flexes outward when you latch onto it. Forever memorable!
