  1. Trip: Strobach - FA: Adrenalepherine WI 5 & Others Date: 1/11/2013 Trip Report: Sorry it has taken me so long to get this up. I have wanted to share a few photos from a trip Craig Pope, Tim Stabio and I had to Strobach over the Janurary 10th weekend. My 28th birfday was the previous wednesday and the excitement was high for a camp out at strobach. The temps were fabulous, air clean and crisp and the fire warm. I won't bore you with anymore boring details on how fun it was to camp at the base and just get to some photos Day 1: Tower of Power Tim doing the needful Craig following... This route was in great shape, technical to start and beautiful one swings to finish, smiles all the way. 2nd up I took Craig over to the base of Hate Pony and Ponderosa Pillar. Craig took a liking to the center line that climbs the narrow pillar and traverses the thin plate of glass to the top shield of Ponderosa. What resulted was a five star classic with good gear throughout. FA: Adrenalepherine WI 5 50m Craig Pope, Tim Stabio, Bryan Schmitz 1/12/13. Route takes pillar and corner left of Ponderosa and exits right shortly before the roof. Craig Pope getting closer In his element Day 2: Unholy Baptism Craig leading a very thin first pitch Tim styling the second pitch crux section Thanks for a great birthday weekend fellas, it was one to remember. ice is for drinks Gear Notes: the usual ice stuff Approach Notes: sloe shoes for us without a snowmachine...

  10. Climbed 3/4's of first pitch of Anisworth last night, then retreated due to the shower of ice and rock that came down. Pretty proud of onisghting the approach in the dark. Very wet, but all there...just wish I didn't have to work and i could slay it during the day. Mist is def climbable. -Bryan Schmitz

Going to be a shit ton of snow in there. I was in there the second week of June and there was still a ton of snow... However, there is a great idaho peak bagging book that you should get to help you plan your adventure. http://www.amazon.com/Idaho-Climbing-Guide-Climbs-Scrambles/dp/0898866081 good luck Bryan
  16. Partners falling through left and right. Plan: meet up at Strobach early saturday morning, hike in, climb, camp, have a huge ass fire, wake up, cilmb sunday, head back to PDX. Would prefer to have a partner that can follow WI5 but not necessary. Also would be helpful to have a few screws and another ice line. email or pM bryan.m.schmitz AT GMAIL Cheers, Bryan. P.s. its my birthday weekend so I am really hoping that someone can go. p.p.s sorry girls but the girlfriend has banned me from going on overnight trips with girls.
  17. You rope up for whitetail? Rock creek is an awesome place. and the alpine rock climbing there is sweet cause all the descents are walk offs down whitetail pass
  18. Solo'd mist and a few other rambles in the gully above deer hunter. Mist is pretty thin and I wouldn't recommend hanging out at the base due to the projectiles from above. The rambles were fun and could probably be protected. I got a 16 cm v thread in solid ice. Overall fun day. Anything with water volume was no where close. Black dagger had a ton if ice on it. But not climbable in these temps. It was 34 out. Forecast doesn't look promising. Bryan
  19. I only got a look at the first 20 feet last night, but that looks similar. However, it was warming all night and continue to do so, pretty sure that will all fall down soon.
  20. anyone seen any climbable ice in the gorge? Look like tonight could be chance before it gets warm...
  21. I bet code red is in good shape if Killer pillar looks that fat...
