Trip: Cody, WY - Mean Green Date: 2/3/2007 Trip Report: Well since both of my buddies and I would rather be climbing some sweet ice then watching some dumb fat guys run around a field we headed off to the great south fork road. We decided to climb "Mean Green" which according to JoJo is one of the best routes in North America, and after this weekend I would have to agree. Pitch 1 & 2 Climb WI3 for 40M to a ledge belay from V-threads or screws Climb short WI4 to a tree belay on your left. Pitch 3 Climb WI4 to screw/ V-thread belay Pitch 4 Climb WI5 pillar to screw/tree belay or tree up and right Upper Slabs WI3 Reason we did not go up there!!! Happy Signs from nearby ranchers. DAY TWO (Superbowl Sunday) Two Much Goose WI5 Wind on the way back Gear Notes: The normal ice rack Approach Notes: Bring tennis shoes to save your feet, and because there is not much snow.

Got any laying around that you wanna get rid of? (can never let a chance go away for some dirtbagging) I finally got some soft shell pants and real ice gloves to climb in aren't you proud of me.

I am surprised they did not re-do their leash design. Never really liked the thumb clip thing. But I must have been in the minority.

It has been my experience that it is safer to clip just one rope into an ice screw. It lowers the impact force and you have a greater chance of the screw holding.
-
I down for a little safety meeting right now. But I found out the hard way that I was not meant to have a safety meeting before I climb WI5. I take way to long and end up a bit more paranoid about my screws.

Perhaps... can't think of anything else that is on Narcs scale in the one pitch ice area.

If ice climbing becomes the nest bouldering I am going to shit my pants . Maybe this belogns is spary but it will get more attenion here. Does anyone know if it is a profession climber? If so which one? I saw it during the half time commerical of the Ohio state Florida Game, the ice climber was climbing ice that was shaped like a budweiser crown on the side of a dark mountian.
