The central ice couloir line that Gary and slothrop did on Kent last year is in. The hard (and undone) WI5 lines on the west side of the north face are in. The west face route on the Duke of Kent was not touching down and is still undone. There are several other waterfalls in the that basin that have formed and are probably unclimbed.
How are snow conditions out there on North Faces now? Is it still powder over breakable crust over powder? I'm hoping to try something on Saturday. Maybe this warm weather will consolidate it enough for stuff to come in.
SP is #1 by a huge margin, no surprises there. Peakware and Bivouac are also rated high. It seams like database driven sites see a lot more traffic than message board driven sites.
Agree with Alex. The traverse on the other side of the bank from the lake over to the correct stream bed is a royal pain in the ass. Think hip waiters and trecking poles and cross further up.
I've always been captivated by The Infinite Spur. I loved the tale from the first ascent and remember when Steve House and partner did it in a day. Pictures of the route including that famous one in the guidebook High Alaska, and recent ones by Joe Puryear only increased my intrigue.
I'll probably never climb it, but it is sure nice to dream.
This is the climbing area at the new skate park under construction in Kent. It is located at at the corner of south 240th street and 116 avenue S.E. The park should be completed and open to the public in early spring of next year.
