Not nearly enough!

I have been over the eazy ridge route to the Northern Pickets twice and it is not that bad except for schleping all your gear around the impass. You can cross direct but it is very hard with all the gear. It is probably easier to go over Whatcom peak than cross low . The challenger Glacier is easy and the Whiley Lakes route is harder than it looks on the map. It is easy to tag Luna and Fury from the Luna Fury Col. Acess creek is a good exit the report you mentioned showsthe route over Picket pass toe=ward the Southern Pickets. Do not try Goodell Creek until past the barrier or you will be sorry.

We ran into a German guy in Nepal who did not believe in vaccinations, on his return home it took them 6 mo. to figure out he had Typhoid because they hadn't seen a case in 30 years. He still did not believe in vaccinations though.

The South was solidly D. until 1948 when Truman moved to integrate the military. The Dixicrats then formed and Strom Thurman took most of the South. They turned to R. after Nixon noted the Success of Wallace and needed help when his administration started crumbling using code words of "law and Order" and "States Rights" to attract the former Dixicrats. What few racist white D.s left usually vote R. The D. party in the south is predominatly Black.

I was speaking of who would not vote for Obama and white racists are in that group, although they are not all of the GOP though they make a significant portion in most southern and many northern states. This has been the case since Nixon adopted the "southern strategy".
-
Nothin wrong with Obama that I know of, racists will not vote for him buth they wouldn't vote for Hillary either. Interesting to see the GOP turned on the huckster and stopped counting when they thought he might win and the Mittster took Maine, talk about dead men walking!
-
Well, it seems that ML is voting in accordance with the GOP majority is favoring Huckleberry with McCaine 2d followed closely by Ron Paul with the Mittster close i.e. about 60% of the elephants against their picked target. I agree that it would be a violation of ML went to a D. caucus then voted in the GOP primary and people were urged to not do this both on legal nd ethical reasons. This is the oath:Republican: I declare that I am a member of the Republican party and I have not participated and will not participate in the 2008 precinct caucus or convention system of any other party. As long as she can say she was a member of the republican party at the time of the oath it is OK legally morally it is another question. Note you do not need to pay money contribute or do any affirmative action to be a member in WA although other states may differ. If I were a Republican I would go for Ron Paul as he is anti Iraq war pro civil liberty etc.

thats a little broad there. there are probably a higher percentage of Independents that fit that description. and then there is the ultra liberal democrat white people who hate white people . Hey it's spray!

I think the racists and the mysoginists are probably the same people, they are called Republicans.

How come all the fundie states that voted for the Huckster got hit with freak tornadoes yesterday? -
Assuming this is not a troll, It is not like the Sierra at all. This will be a heavy snow year. The brush may be covered making for possible travel. It requires full snow and rock gear and persistence but is doable. Skoog Ski Traverse cir. 1985

Trip: Tour de Tigre' - Date: 2/2/2008 Trip Report: Ever since we moved to Issaquah I wanted to Ski the West Tiger Railroad Grade for its length. Since the Cirico trail went in it became a possibility without backtracking. Most winters there is not enough snow. This year with BC skiing somewhat problematic seem like a good call. On Wednesday I scouted Poo Poo Point and found a good foot on top. Originally planned on doing this yesterday but commitments got in the way. Had to settle for today. We went around 10 and left a car at Highpoint TH. Then drove to the Chirico TH. The trail was bare for the fist mile or so then snow began in earnest around the bottom of the South Launch Clearcut. On went the skis with skins. It was nasty where the blackberry cans made ski traps but we were soon at the trail crossing. Skins came off and skied the road to Poo Poo where there was a foot or two of snow took a couple turns at the North Launch. Then headed up the trail to the end of the West Tiger RR Grade. Saw a couple runners in shorts and Tees. The postholes prevented first track but it was not long to the Grade. The traverse was nice but there was a lot of annoying brush and deadfalls. There are a couple stream crossings which require steep descents and ascents with a steep banked wet stream in the middle, fancy footwork required. The going got better as we neared the Section Line Trail crossing. Had lunch with Hot Chocolate with YJ. From here the RR grade is smooth and pretty level. Someone had postholed through the 2' of snow with amazing persistence. Crossed the new West Tiger 3 Trail and the Cableline Trail and both were tobaggon tracks of compacted snow. There were a couple log bridges here that were tricky. It was a quick downhill hast the K3 and TMT which only had a few tracks. Since the West Tiger RR Grade had become the TMT we continued down. Skis stayed on until shortly above the junction with the Highpoint trail. Saw a dude who appeared very stoned and was either homeless or psycho as he had on jeans and a cotton shirt carrying a target bag with cokes in it. He asked the time and told him it was 3:45 and there was a couple feet of snow ahead, he said he was going to the Twin Towers :[] eek.gif. Asked if we wanted some pop I replied, "uh no". Maybe he lives in the "hikers hut". Hope I do not read about him later. By now legs were sore as we headed down the tail to the Highpoint TH with skies on back. Picked up car drove back to the car saw a pile of emergency vehicles heading out to Issy Hobart RD. Because somebody has to to something truly stupid

And there wasen't any any pot or smack in Nam was there

We won the Tet battle just like every battle in Nam, still lost the war. Problem was and is that you cannot win against an insurgency in another country by military means and leave it to quislings. Mao showed that 20 years before Tet.

On the Alpine Lakes High route just after Iron Cap Peak and Pass heading up toward Tank Lakes in Spring snow when an A6 came through the Pass at about 100'. We were eye to eye with pilot. Only thing that came close was by Uhebe Craterin Death Valley when F14's were practicing supersonic dog fights from the Top Gun school at Nellis.

It was like one of those "best of" SNL episodes we had "no child left behind" from 2001 9-11, from 2002. Iraq from 2003, stay the course from 2004, SS reform from 2006, the Surge from 2007 yada, yada, yada. Think I'm going to puke.

Introduction to Powder - specific advice needed
Mal_Con replied to Panos's topic in the *freshiezone*
Best to learn in area as said above. Then commitment is needed you cannot pause or hesitate if it is really powder. You just have to let it go and ride it out. When you do it is just like flying in a dream a minor shift of weight is all you need to turn anything more will lead to an overturn and fall. -
Most of the approaches are in valleys which require a long hike to snow. There is some good stuff from Hurricane ridge out towards Obstruction point. Can be some stuff out of Deer Park but usually the road is closed too low. There was a cabin at Waterhole Camp where you could stay but it is long gone.
