  1. Cool, send the Rooster as well.
  2. you should have asked "Lisa" if she knew what clucking is. nice TR!
  3. did you need the crampons at all for the descent?
  4. I've brought Gouda on trips before. That stuff rocks.
  5. +1 - Pop Tarts, candy bars (Snickers and Payday for sure), summer sausage, a block of cheese, butter horns, the shittier the better. where do you get the summer sausage? any brand/etc that you've found is better than others? I never eat that stuff at home, but on the trail it would be awesome, I'm sure.
  6. how much, and how long does it keep? approach only?
  7. I've cycled through every type of energy bar and most no-brainer snack foods over the last few years. I'd love some new ideas for light-weight stuff that works well on fairly-strenuous climbs where you don't want to bring extra weight. So far, I've gone through: 1) power bars, cliff bars, luna bars, etc etc etc of most flavors 2) granola bars, kudo bars, etc 3) GORP, GORP+chocolate chips/m&m's/etc, honey-roasted peanuts, etc etc etc 4) Gu and many of the copy-cat brands 5) PBJ sandwiches 6) Tortillas and cheese 7) beef jerky 8) dried fruits of various types (cherries, blueberries, mangos, strawberries, cranberries, etc)
  8. maybe someone told them it was "easy" and they'd be fine there. now they know differently.
  9. +1 on the Darwin. It's a busy route, someone was bound to come by at some point and help out. They really shouldn't have been in any real danger for long. Better to wait it out than rap off that bolder. Or she could have set up a "rap", but downclimbed it with a prusik for safety (only weighting the rope if she "fell") to the crack, set up a solid anchor a few feet down and rappelled off of that. Anyways, sounds lik a lesson learned for them (I hope)
  10. I went. No TR - another routefinding failure. There is snow in the gulley to needle pass and it is mostly continuous to the notch. It's pretty hard stuff, even when we descended in the afternoon. I had aluminum crampons which worked fine. We rapped down the top part to speed things up, and had to face in for all of the steep stuff. Routefinding failure? How so? We used this one: http://www.summitpost.org/route/158756/south-corner.html We never saw the cannon-hole or belay ledges. If you approach Flapjack Lakes, I'd love to know how your climb jibes with the description linked above.
  11. snafflehound?

  17. we can cancel our Blue Angel program and invite the Canucks to fly at Seafair, thereby saving our pilots' lives, some $$, and since Canadians aren't terrorists (WE ARE!!!), it's a win-win. why, even the moonbats will be happy (not possible).

  25. From the official Blue Angels web site FAQ: ** What is the difference between a Blue Angel Hornet and the new F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet? The Super Hornet is 25% larger, can fly 40% further, remain on station 80% longer and carry more weapons than its predecessors. The Super Hornet F/A-18 E/F models have deployed with battle groups since 2001. This aircraft is the Navy’s newest acquisition and its advanced technology will be used to carry the fleet into the 21st century. ** Will the Blue Angels fly the Super Hornet? The decision to transition to the Super Hornet has yet to be determined. I just noticed your sig.
