  9. I guess I was under the impression that this is a fundamental rule for everyone that hikes or climbs in the mountains: Don't trundle. Assume there is someone down below ...even if it appears highly unlikely. It's kind of like the rule about always behaving as if the gun is loaded when handling guns.

  13. Spaghetti sauce leather made in Harvest Maid food dryer. Make the sauce. Line food dryer tray with wax paper -spray lightly with oil. Spread sauce on wax paper and dry to a sheet like food leather. Fold the sauce leather and place it in a Ziploc bag. Label and store in freezer until ready to go. In camp in the morning, fill the Ziploc bag with water and leave it to soak all day. That night, boil the pasta, drain, and pour the sauce over it. Fresh grated parm cheese. The warm pasta is enough heat to warm up the sauce. Enjoy with freeze dried merlot.

  16. Accidently ingesting DEET and puking all night. Telling your partner at base camp that you left the food bag on your kitchen counter. Hearing your binding crack on the first day of skiing the Bailey Range traverse. Arriving out at the trailhead at the end of a long trip and being notified that you have to hike back up to assist with a rescue ...when you thought the next order of business was going to involve a stop at Good Food. Arriving at base camp to find a Mountaineers Basic Climb group already set up.
  17. I grew up in Richmond, VA. My field trips were Jamestown, Williamsburg, Mt. Vernon, Monticello, Washington D.C., but my favorite was the Maymont Park Zoo. Although there was a trip to a farm one time. That was fun. We got to explore a lot on our own around the farm.
