I'm flying tomorrow too. If we were on the same plane, I'd hold your hand to make it easier. However, I'm off to Chile. When you take off, press your hand against the window and I'll do the same. I'll be there with you, like in the movies.

That goes on nowadays in any lifesaving practice. I was at a conference talking with an malpractice insurance lady when she told me tons of stories from the medical field. Like the family who sued the hospital for chipping their grandma's tooth while intubating her (the intubation saved her life). Pathetic.

I haven't watched them a million times, but these are too good not to recommend: The Killing Fields the whole Band of Brothers series. I have DVDs of both if any PDXers want to borrow. And I'm not all about war movies, it's just these two just haven't been mentioned.

I think a big part of it is the way we're so goddamned litigious. Because of a whole assload of bad apples, everyone is liable for anything that goes on among them. We've now substituted legal release forms for personal responsibility. I just talked to a kid who lifeguards at a lake in New York and the kids can't bring anything into the swimming area except buckets and goggles (not scuba masks because they cover your nose). People can't swim outside of the shallow area, even if they're trying to train for a triathlon and are obviously in good shape. And this isn't an issue of conservative vs. liberal so don't try to make it one. And thanks to Winter, I'm craving TG. I'll get a sixer on the way home .

Eat less mercury.

I was there last weekend. They said that they'll be moving somewhere nearby and were looking for the right place. Definitely not closing though.

Ummmmmm. . . I don't remember too well but I think the sandwich was on wheat bread. I had it in a ziplock bag with a pink opening. Am I right? Is it my sandwich?

Ha! Forgot about this. In case any of you are still dying of suspense, the blister popped on its own. Well, actually my girlfriend popped it during a heated thumb wrestling match. She decided to cheat, my blister decided to explode all over her and the airplane tray table. She thought she'd knocked over a drink at first, and didn't understand why it was warm. It took a lot for her not to throw up.

Last year there seemed to be a couple of teams at the start who needed an extra person. If all else fails, just show up there and take a gamble. Or call Portland Running Co. to ask if they have any bulletin postings up. Or you can look on Craigslist. These guys need 4 girls and 1 guy. Good luck! I wish I could run again this year, but I'll be in Chile.
