Climbing in Central Wa this weekend
TrogdortheBurninator replied to kevino's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
I'd be surprised if that stuff was in. Those are pretty cold weather climbs. The alpental valley proper is probably a better bet. You can always climb at the rap wall if there isnt much real ice. -
All experiences with ticks are bad. They are disgusting anytime they get in your skin.

Speaking of the 76, the other day the guy at the counter suggested the 7 layer tortilla pie, and it was pretty awesome. I'd recommend it as a cheap eat if the dogs aren't available.

It looks pretty warm everywhere in washington this weekend. Maybe Mazama will stay cold enough. -
Sounds like a load of bull shit to me. Beginners are beginners. Skis or snowboards, they both suck at their respective sports. The reason it seems like snowboarders are a bigger problem is because snowboarding has recently made up a dominant percentage of new participants at ski areas. Regardless, most of these beginners stay away from steep bump runs. Moguls are out of vogue. I think modern grooming equipment is the biggest factor in the reduced number of mogul runs (thank god). The ungroomed (ungroomable??) bump runs remain in tact (upper nash), but runs like triple 60 are now groomed nightly. Name a few ungroomed bump run that have suffered from the advent of snowboarding.

That sounds great. Do you have any photos? Those westside routes look awesome. Was the ice on the lake 4-6", or the climb? -

So that is $1.50 each? How'd they turn out? That seems like a great deal. -

Not sure if he lives local, but my wife met Warren at work today. Funny, cause I wouldn't have had a clue who he was if not for this thread. -
For climbing purposes it seems to me that the smallest most basic, longest battery life gps is the best. If I were in the market for one, I'd probably pick up one of those geckos. When are you really going to use all that other stuff.

Looks like a blast. The approach sounds like a breeze with the sled.

We all know that will never happen.

Great pics, thanks. P-S dihedral and column look great

Snowboarders dont like bumps. New school skiing is just rehashed snowboarding.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Out of curiosity, what kind of dog is it. I've heard some dogs (i.e. huskies) can be completely fine with cats for years, when all the while they have been secretely waiting for an opportunity to attack. Basic instinct I guess.

The ham and cheese and green chili sandwich at gustavs is awesome. Most of the hate I hear stems from them charging for fries.

They already list the head as replaceble on x-monsters on the GNA website. I guess with a 1st generation pair you'd just have to shave the old bolts to get them out.

v-thread (Abalakov) musings
TrogdortheBurninator replied to Kevin_Matlock's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
Rapping off a single thread in good ice is fine. I usually place an unweighted screw nearby as a backup for the first (heavier) rappeler. 2nd rappeler pulls the backup. -
IS the last one SS like a boat?

Apparently your reference (http://www.brookscole.com/chemistry_d/templates/student_resources/shared_resources/act/photochem/photo2.html) is wrong, as the structure of melanin has only been inferred and is far more complicated than melamine.
