right on, Bungle. if I was a moderator I would have locked this thread after post #1... cause that's really ALL there is to say when it comes to which band is the greatest of all time.

That last one was the closest.... but you got your "w" and "a" switched around there, Gary. My brother's wife, who's from Lafayette, LA, long ago taught me that the way you say it down there is "N'Wahlins".

Class of '96! One of the best student:teacher ratios in all of public higher education, from what I hear. Some damn good teachers, too.. at least the ones I had. The constant PC shit, and the overdone multiculturaism and pluralism got kinda old ..... but whatever.... for some people who weren't exposed to that stuff growing up, it's probably a good thing. Better too much than too little. Yeah... if I could turn back the clock, I'd probably go to a bigger school like UW, just cause of the more extensive (A) academic resources and (B) social opportunities. Definitely wouldn't consider TESC for grad school, simply for item (A). But yeah, it was what it was.

I never liked teachers or schools that factored attendance into the grade... I think it's bullshit, personally. Control-freakery and education do not (er, should not) mix. For my first two years of high school, I slept thru a good portion of my first- and second-period classes. And I remember some teachers not giving a damn, and some getting visibly offended/perturbed/etc by it... I always wanted to say "WTF, jackson?? You ain't volunteering for this shit. You're getting PAID... and I'm not disturbing the class, I'm just not participating." OK.. that was high school. Fast forward to college, when I did actually start doing work. As it happened, I was never the type who was able to cut classes and still get good grades... I had to come to every class, stay awake, listen carefully to lecture, take lotta notes, ask questions, etc. But I did have some friends who were able to cut class a lot and still do well... and more power to them.

OK, I'm heading out for a bike ride. get a life, you all!!! and believe it or not... "life" does not equate "high post-count on CC.com"!

dude. no shit. funny, .... when Chaps first appeared on the scene, what was that, about .... 2 months ago? .. he was constantly saying how this place was "mostly fluff". I didn't think so then, but I do think it's sorta gone downhill since then. Seems like lately the percentage of posts which are these short little 1-word quips has gone up dramatically. ahh, but there's enough funny and/or meaningful stuff, here and there, that i keep sifting thru the bullshit.

awwww.... just when I was starting to think you were actually kinda cool..... (and by that I mean, well, something less than 100% bitch).... and even kinda funny sometimes too. but what does my opinion count... I've only got a measely 636 posts. ...and I've never climbed anything harder than 5.10, and very possibly never will.

from what I hear, the % of obese Canadians is pretty close to that of the US.. and the % in the UK is growing fast too. maybe it has something to do with the English language.

I was going to post this in that other thread ("bastard"), since we were talking about amounts of vacation time from various jobs/sectors.... but since that one drifted in so many directions, I'll start a new thread. What I want to know is how you people spray all day and still HAVE jobs.... I long ago stopped posting on CC.com at work (some lurking, no posting tho)...... FIRST of all cuz it eats up so much time and I wouldn't get shit done, and ALSO cuz my monitor is in full view of the cube hallway. My boss rarely if ever comes by to visit, but farting around on the 'net too much can also be bad for "coworker relations", shall we say. Shit, I spend/waste enuf time just writing personal emails each day, but that can be done covertly ..... write it in Outlook, then quickly paste it into Yahoo Mail. Oh, and I guess that's a THIRD reason I don't login here at work.... in case "they" end up tracing my CC.com login to my LAN login and find I say things like what I just said..... or stuff I post here which they might deem, for whatever reason, "unsavory". (I've got today off, which is the only reason I'm saying ... er, spraying, ... all this.) Oly, Archie, Selkirk, Knotzen, Dru, DeC..... I'm not even sure I totally believe you guys HAVE jobs... I figure you must work at night, and/or have private offices, and/or have the ability to time-warp, and/or work at places where you're SURE they don't monitor web traffic from client machines. (???)

a large portion lives in thirld world conditions? Get a fucking grip man. I don't see any Japanese Encephalitis outbreaks in the US. No cholera, malaria, yellow fever either. No favelas in the US. No famines strike our country. That said, conditions in New Orleans are now like the third world. you don't have to have famines or diaseses to have "third world conditions". even before Katrina, the Mississippi delta region was, compared to the rest of America, pretty much third world.... at least when it comes to shit like high infant mortality and low literacy rates. and for those who might say (or think) "infant mortality rates high?... well that's good.... means them darkies will be have fewer mouths to feed".... SORRY, it doesn't work like that. Statistics show that, when infant mortality rates go down, so do birth rates; people know the chance of the kids growing up is lower, then tend to make fewer kids.

Or just go work for a decent corporation. do you know of any which start you at 4 weeks vacation? if so I want to know about them... so I can go beg plead and grovel for a job there! plenty will work you up to 4 wks, but that's after having worked there like 10+ years.

unless you work for a nonprofit. or move to Canada or Europe.... which is looking more and more appealing actually.

OMFG that is too funny. thing is, tho, Jon... why'd ya cut out the part of that picture with Butthead!?? (I'm assuming he was originally in that pic with Beavis?) ...... cuz I think that GWB, in that pic at least, looks sorta like HIM!!! .... i guess it's sorta the curled-up-lip smile or something.

one of my few beefs about my cube farm involves the knobs on the sinks in the restroom. the men's room near my cube has three sinks. one one of them, the hot turns on clockwise and the cold turns on counter-clockwise...... on another one it's just the opposite...... and on the third one, both knobs turn on counter-clockwise (which is of course the way most sinks all over the goddam world are!) ... or at least should be! .... jeezis h. CHRIST we have some moronic plumbers working in our building..... how hard is it to make ALL THREE SINKS HAVE THE SAME GODDAM KNOB-DIRECTION-CONFIGURATION!?? it doesn't matter which way they turn, but you'd think they could at least make ALL THREE SINKS do the same thing!! the other men's rooms in the building also have such inconsistencies. on the bright side ... I'm happy to say that this is one of the few minor annoyances about my workplace (besides the bitchy, obese Puerto Rican secretary, and the fact that I can't spray all day).

another mournful Zeppelin song... "In My Time Of Dying" (and yes, i DO realize they didn't write this either... but neither did Dylan, and no one seems to badmouth him for covering it on his first album.) why does Zeppelin always get so much heat for covering so many great blues songs? I think they rock. In my time of dying, want nobody to mourn All I want for you to do is take my body home Well, well, well, so I can die easy [X2] Jesus, gonna make up my dyin' bed. Meet me, Jesus, meet me. Meet me in the middle of the air If my wings should fail me, Lord. Please meet me with another pair Well, well, well, so I can die easy [X2] Jesus, gonna make up.. somebody, somebody... Jesus gonna make up... Jesus gonna make you my dyin' bed Oh, Saint Peter, at the gates of heaven... Won't you let me in I never did no harm. I never did no wrong Oh, Gabriel, let me blow your horn. Let me blow your horn Oh, I never did, did no harm. I've only been this young once. I never thought I'd do anybody no wrong No, not once. Oh, I did somebody some good. Somebody some good... Oh, did somebody some good. I must have did somebody some good... And I see them in the streets And I see them in the field And I hear them shouting under my feet And I know it's got to be real Oh, Lord, deliver me All the wrong I've done You can deliver me, Lord I only wanted to have some fun. Hear the angels marchin', hear the' marchin', hear them marchin', hear them marchin', the' marchin' Oh my Jesus... [repeat] Oh, don't you make it my dyin', dyin', dyin'... [studio Chatter:] "That's gonna be the one, isn't it? " "Come have a listen, then. " Oh yes, thank you." speaking of music... gotta get out the door and get me down to Bumbershoot!!!! happy 3-day weekend, all.

here's part of one of their less-cheery, and lesser-known, songs ("That's the Way") ..... and one of their many songs which mentions rivers. And yesterday I saw you standing by the river, And weren't those tears that filled your eyes, And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying, Had they got you hypnotized? And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers, But all that lives is born to die. And so I say to you that nothing really matters, And all you do is stand and cry. I don't know what to say about it, When all you ears have turned away, But now's the time to look and look again at what you see, Is that the way it ought to stay? may the countless victims of Katrina RIP. my bro and his wife have some close friends who live in New Orleans, but fortunately they had the money, cars, and intelligence to get away in time... many didn't.

we need a friggin' constitutional amendment mandating a minimum IQ for presidential candidates.

first thing that Google turned up for "Maxine" was this main reason I was LMAO was cause, in the very first split-second after I saw that pic, it looked like Kathleen Turner (the actress) farting. second items on Google's list was The [very] Honorable Maxine Waters.

funny, some of the bizarre, random animal attack stories you hear. I read a story in the newspaper a few years ago about how some river otters attacked someone at some lake in Washington. I'm dead serious, I'm not just trying to "funny". (I think it was The Olympian ... also known as "The Daily O", a name further mutated into "The Daily Zero" ... lame newspaper, but still a newspaper, not a tabloid.) a state wildlife biologist was quoted as saying it was very rare, but not unheard of, for otters to attack.
