Ever thought of making it so that the "ignore" feature could be set according to forum? Like, ignore them in Spray but not elsewhere? I just recently started, for the FIRST time, ignoring this one user cuz of all the shit he said in spray which annoyed the fuck out of me. (there's VERY VERY FEW character traits which consistently annoy me ... but one of them is unfettered arrogance and hubris.) But then a few days later, I un-ignored this little shit to read what he had to say in another thread in a different forum... and it was in fact something meaningful and worthwhile.

Tentpole idea doesn't sound good AT ALL to me, cuz of them coming apart when you pull on them. As for probe-poles, I've been meaning to ask people's thoughts on, or do a search on, CC/TAY about this. I have em and think they're just fine. Some say they take longer to assemble than a real probe ....... I've always thought the opposite; would be very interested to test sometime. Some say the taper makes them harder to use than a real probe .... again, am skeptical and would like to test. Some say they aren't good cuz the probe you make isn't as long.... now this one I can sort of understand. But.... if they're buried more than SIX FEET .... it's probably gonna take so damn long to dig them out that it's doubtful whether they'll live anyway. Another thing I'm wondering how people feel about.... In the gear list in my copy of FOTH (6th ed., 1997) it actually calls the probe something that can potentially be shared by group. I don't think that's totally wise, but I've heard a lot of people say that, in a group of like 4 or more, it's OK to have only 1 probe per 2 people in the group. Reasons: (1) in many avalanches, the victim's only buried by 1-2 feet; (2) single-victim burials are way more common than multi-victim burials; (3) I forget reason #3, but I remember it sounding good. (4) ditto to #3 (I haven't seen actual stats to back this shit up, this is just what I've heard people say.) I mean, in theory,... if the Mounties think it's safe it's GOTTA be safe right?

Do one of you guys have an extra icetool I could borrow? I only have a glacier axe. Or maybe I'll use the ski binding traction technique.

I thought this was going to be another rant about how much you despise microwave popcorn.

A few years ago, I did a two-month temp job in the corporate offices of The Bon, and ate there a whole lot. there on average twice a week for the past couple years. Good all times of year, but esp. in winter... when it's all gloomy out, all the beach/tropical decor and reggae music can't help but cheer ya up. I could probably name 3/4 of the TDM locations in the Seattle area.

Oh please. The general theme/message of my post was that, when it comes to dating and relationships, RULES IN GENERAL ARE BULLSHIT. All of this stuff is gonna depend on numerous factors, specific to the individual situation/date/relationship. Out of all the above, the only absolute I believe in is the second half of my response to item 3. And if you weren't so jumpy tonight, you may have actually noticed the gender-neutrality of my response to item 3. (There's plenty of chicks out there who'd concur on the three-strikes-yer-out rule).

crazy t, do you know about this website ? -
Any guy who believes that shit is a sucker. Any chick who believes it is probably a golddigger who ain't worth your time, much less yer money. (Naturally, both of these convictions will have exceptions, but them's my gut reactions...) That's so fuckin cliche. I don't think that type of thing can ever be that cut & dry. It all depends how long you've known the other person, and what type of events the date is to consist of, and other factors. Now that does sounds like a good general rule o' thumb to me... I mean, the minimum number of dates should be flexible (again, depending on various factors). But if on the 3rd date, you're ready to get naked, and the other party needs "more time" .... it most likely means that they reeeaally just DON'T like sex very much, or maybe just have a lot of hangups with it. So why waste any more time with them?

Actually one thing I was going to say is to stay AWAY from the cat tracks.... just cause they tend to attract newbie skiers/boarders. And they're so narrow you don't want to clog them up for too long, whether you're going uphill or downhill. I once saw a guy skiing up the upper portion of Lucky Shot at Crystal. if I was a patroller I woulda told him to go somewhere else.
-
Oly, that's priceless. he got "ski" in about 15 but couldn't get "avocado".

I like skiing uphill at resorts sometimes. Ditto to all the above, esp. staying to sides of runs. And also.... when I have to occasionally traverse across a big wide run cause it's too steep, I'll stop and stand still when there's a big group of skiers coming downhill. I've always figured it'd make it much easier for them to go around you. Remember, most of them have NEVER seen someone ski uphill so it's probably confusing as hell... probably makes them more likely to collide into you or someone else. What's more, I wonder if the universal rule of "Yield to skiers downhill of you" doesn't apply if the "skier downhill of you" is actually going against the flow. (or well, it probably still applies, but wouldn't hold up as well in court). Have fun.

I know, a lot of people say that. But I gotta ask: is that hate a cause ... or a symptom ..... of the general comtempt for the whole holiday? One reason I've never hated Christmas music... when I was a kid, the most common Christmas music albums we listened to were: 1) Motown Christmas -- featuring Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Diana Ross, and others. 2) Mele Kalikimaka -- some Hawaiian band or bands, doing Xmas tunes. 3) John Denver with the Muppets doing Xmas. So I wasn't much exposed too much to the classic oh-so-whitey suburban accents of the Christmas Carols you hear crooned in stores.

Classic anectode re. Madame deGaulle (as taken from Snopes.com... which didn't have an official ruling on it). When Charles deGaulle decided to retire from public life, the American ambassador and his wife threw a gala dinner party in his honor. At the dinner table the Ambassador's wife was talking with Madame de Gaulle. "Your husband has been such a prominent public figure, such a presence on the French and International scene for so many years! How quiet retirement will seem in comparison. What are you most looking forward to in these retirement years?" "A penis," replied Madame de Gaulle. A huge hush fell over the table. Everyone heard her answer . . . and no one knew what to say next. Finally, Le Grand Charles leaned over to his wife and said, "Ma cherie, I believe zee Americans pronounce zat word 'appiness.'"
