wasn't there a Mad comic strip way back when (by Don Martin maybe) that featured "shmelvis parsley" ??
-
i think i might just hafta go down and meet up w/ Mr. Klenke for a pint or two. anyone else??
-
i've test ridden both the Enduro and the Dawg.. liked both alot; also have heard great feedback on both. prolly the main difference between them is that the Enduro costs a few hundred bucks less. I was totally considering buying one of the above, but then decided to go with a cross country bike. just bought me a Specialized Stumpjumper this past weekend.

well the little cold thing was a 24 hr false alarm (i think maybe temporary allergies from having moved to a new cubicle maybe??) ... like dust and other cooties from the former inhabitant. anyway... i'm ready for Saturday... and then maybe Baker one of them next couple weekends!! O-O-o-o- will send email soon. .... Gordon, check yer voice mail!!
-
so you work nights or somethin, Gordon? yeah i'm still up for it ... I really really want to go in fact... but like i said in that email I'm feeling like i might be coming down with a cold (seriously). feels like a pretty mild cold, so chances are 99% i'll still want to go, but ... travel w/me at yer own risk. who else is in? Divot? ... what's the deal? you fa real?

y'know, chaps.... as far as I know, no one has EVER been banned from this site for... um.... having never, ever, EVER had anything worthwhile to say,... but be careful.... there's a first for everything.

Need a Third -- Any Glaciated Peak -- July 21-24
Double_E replied to TheBootfitter's topic in Climbing Partners
got plans for that weekend... most other weekends this summer are still flexible tho. hoping to do Baker or Rainier this summer. or both. maybe other snowy peaks too... I'm up for suggestions. -
holishit... I just looked at the map finally. Comet Falls TH is at about like 3500 feet. any other day-trippers who'd rather drive up the extra 2000 ft to Paradise? I've only set up the Z-pulley once before, but I'd think you don't really need a sooper high angle slope to do it.. could even find stuff on or near the Camp Muir route. (no?) I mean, I dunno, I guess a real crevasse is better, for the whole experience of it,.... but even just practicing the the mechanics of it would be enuf. Only time i've set one up before was next to Paradise parking lot, one winter a few yrs ago when there were 30 foot snow walls next to it. .... sigh.... miss them big-snow-wall winters.
-
who wants to carpool for a one-day trip? I'm leaning towards Saturday but either day is OK. yo professor... got syllabus? maybe crevasse stuff Saturday, avy beacon stuff Sunday? I need the crevasse practice more, myself.

how do you KNOW he's not a climbing ranger? maybe he's part time. maybe he's like, i dunno... on-call or whatever. your profile sez you're new there at MoRa. just cuz those three you mentioned haven't ever mentioned a fourth ranger, don't mean a fourth ranger don't exist. you seem to be under the faulty impression that everybody in this world loves their job, and doesn't bitch about their employer ..... cuz of course, .... if they DIDn't like their job.. why they'd just leave it, right?? hoo boy... i hate to break it to you, Mr. Recent College Grad ... but that ain't the case. at all. as it happens, I've had a few different friends who've worked for the NPS... one of which is currently a wildlife biologist at Rainier. each and every one of them liked working for the NPS. but just cuz they do/did, and just cuz you do, don't mean all NPS workers do. i must admit, the pep-rally talk was making me a tad suspicious.... but whatever. we ain't climbing the damn mountain next weekend... we're just meeting up and practicing some rope skills n' shit. yep. we will see what we will see. well I appreciate your concern. truly. we'll keep y'all in mind.

itsa wondeful day in the sprayer-hood..... a wonderful day in the sprayer-hood.... would you be mine, could you be mine, could - you - be - my - sprayer??
-
I think he just likes CC.com cuz all the sprayers make him, um.. how does that saying go... oh yeah. "LOL". but seriously tho.. why even question that kinda thing? maybe he just moved there from Denver or Calgary or wherever, and he hasn't met many peeps yet. maybe all his coworkers are married and hes not (a situation, I'm sorry to report, which I seem to keep running into myself). there's 1000 reasons why someone may not have anyone else to climb with. anyways.... for anyone interested in this event, please post any new stuff in this thread.

awesome!! thanks TJ/Divot. if there's any total newbies, I can help with the teaching some... throw in my three cents here and there as need be. I'd consider myself an "advanced newbie". I'm definitely up for one day, either the 25th or 26 .. will probably decide by next Tuesday, based on which day the majority of the day-trippers want to go on. or i might be up for both, we'll see. I've got a 50m dry rope I can bring too... will hafta dust the cobwebs off it tho.

a coworker climbed it last weekend too. summited on Sunday. he said they skiied up/down between about 7K and 13.5K. said conditions weren't too too bad. showed me the route on the map.. I forget the names of ridges and all, but the overall bearing was about NNW from their trailhead to the summit.

well, DC, if you're gonna be that semantic about the word cameltoe you probably haven't been to this site. NOTE: link is not work-safe (is basically PG-13 rated.. but your LAN may still block it ... and "note" it.) anyways... a 'toe don't have to be wrapped in lycra to be a "'toe", ...... ya know?

nice picture, Fox.. but hasn't that been posted on this site about, let's see... I think its up to 1,638 times now? hey... whattabout otter pictures? where's the stackable otters?

I worked for a certain big-city fire department for about 1.5 years once (not as a firefighter; I worked on their dispatch-system databases). anyway, I met a lot of fatass firefighters... some were fatter'n me, and that's saying alot! I hate to diss on them like this, cuz each and every one were good peoples and seemed dedicated to their job n' stuff ...... and cuz I wouldn't mind maybe just maybe working there again some day. but just let it be known.... ALL firefighters are in top physical shape when they get out of drill school at age 24 .... but then most fatten up with time, just like the general public.
