100 ton license? I've seen the study materials...hardcore. Congrats!

There is a huge difference between what makes it across the AP wire and what really happens. We have always tried to portray "the good guy"... misdirected sometimes,(Haiti,Vietnam, Somalia) but, in the eyes of the western world, we generally act on good faith. Commiting war crimes hurts our international credibility, It's what seperated us from our enemies. Who will join us next time?

Marketing? How many new (and cheaper) cam companies are on the market this year?

I am not talking about the Arabs, they have shown their hand,... I speak of the rest of the world. The repercussions of the events in Iraq have changed the opinions of people and nations who might have supported us... but now do not. The abuses our troops carried out are nothing new, in fact, under previous administrations, things that occured in Central America and other 3rd world backwaters, make the stuff that happened this month look like a frat party. What do you really think the CIA/SF have been doing for the last 40 years? We finally got pinched this time, and it's going to hurt.

Hmmm. Martlet, would a witty, intellegent and no doubt edcuated young man such as your self, be willing to agree that the events of the last month would efectively change the world view of the United States? How many of our european/ asian friends are proud to stand beside us right now? Nobody. We are fucked, my young republician friend.

I use tape gloves, they shave a letter grade off any crack you use them on... That's why I use them.

Don't you see? this is going to be the way it's going to be now...cancel the overseas vacation, because half of the world now wants you dead.

Look, this is NOT the time to keep perpetuating the liberial/conservative thing. The enimies of this country are going to use the weakend state our nation is in right now to their best advantage. Blaming the trouble caused by the Americian war on anybody else is bullshit. As a nation, we all share the burden. The world just changed, we are in trouble. Stop blaming each other and start watching your corner!

Just got back... man, that place is so much better than joshua tree!

I just suggested that a 5 to 1 is a good standard, not the standard.
-
5 to 1 safety factor is a good standard. Quicklinks are the only truely rated accessory in climbing. All the recreational stuff gives breaking strengths not working loads. but everybody knows that....

The contrast between Libecki and the rest is huge... he seems quite articulate and normal, the base jumpers act like...idiots.
-
He climbed the full north ridge of Stuart? The rest of the peaks were just ridge traversing?

TIME MACHINE!!!!! moving thru time now...the year is 1991!!!!!! I am 19 and grunge rock has been coined by the major media. The fine local acts go supermega and another local music scene dies in front of millions of innocents...the hair! the flannel!...all gone! Tad, where are you?

I work with wire rope every day. it's my job.... sorry for talkin' shop.
-
Stainless is not always the shit...too rigid! 1/16" is just easier to find and will still do the trick.
-
Do NOT cut the spring steel when you reswage the new trigger assembly together. take your C-7's(wire rope cutters) and chew the old swage off. then reattach the new trigger wires on. CBS, the trigger is non loadbearing, so the breaking strength of trigger wire is a non issue. some 1/16" 7x19 ought to do the trick My buddy had a #4 that had a cord trigger, the original trigger got mangled when it fell off El cap... that #4 was his only cam and we brought it every climb, just in case. .
