One of the developers thinks that he encountered sasquach on a early foray. While hiking up to the top to instal anchors, something above him made a huge ruckus, tearing off thru the brush. When he got to the top, where a" huge human looking pile of still-steaming poop" greeted him. Freaked out, he beat his own hasty retreat. The route he rapped that day turned out to be "a sweet 5.12."

Szyjakowski and me climbed Premier together. The aid move aided well. This was a fun route. -

Working in Toronto and Washington DC, home next week. Bought a kayak, warped on fishing and snorkeling. Water temp in Lake Mead is a brisk 75. Home when the weather gets better...

After decyphering certain clues, I have uncovered the identity of Cattalk. Surely our most remote poster, this enigma is a temporary visitor in a dusty, hot place. Author of several local climbs, our hero is a walking guidebook of local granite. Beloved by many, this person was always willing to "lead all the pitches..." Quiet and thoughtful, our friend might not say a word all night, then talk nonstop about the virtues of some obscure classic. Who is Cattalk?.... Our Brother!

Cattalk, I will fly home to climb with you. We miss you bro, keep yer head down and come home! Call me if you can, anytime. Lance Granite PS, All you people out there, Cattalk is a fuckin legend!!!!

Alpinfox, You made up for it in my book by grudge matching the pitch in the dark! My biggest fall was a jump. Out of gear on a unclimbed crack, I decided to go for it, only to find that a roof at the top was unprotectable. A very introspective few moments...freaking out might be a better word for it! Taking a deep breath, I push off for a 25 footer onto a small wired nut. Lucky for me the fall was clean, but the piece was totally welded so I retreat to fall another day.

Laps... lots of laps.

The Blues cliff is cooler. Many good 11's ... and 12 Gadge IQ.

That was you?...sorry.

I recall flying an Americian flag over the R&D on Memorial day weekend a couple years ago...good times. The little tree at the top of pitch 4 makes for a good place to fly the colors.

5/2/05, 1600 HRS, SOUTH FORK OF PINE CREEK Hiking down the wash, Bomber and me run into two fellows deep in conversation, the faithful guidebook in hand.... Guy: "hey, is this Olive Oil?" Me: "no, it's on the other side of that mountain" Guy: "oh...(looks at guidebook)...are you sure?" Me: "yes, don't worry thou, the route in front of you, Cat in the Hat is very nice." Guy: "where?" Me : "you see all those people up there? well...(route description deleted)...that's Cat in the Hat." Guy: "how hard is it?" Me: "5.6" Guy: "hmmm, I think we want to do Olive Oil" (thoughtful pause, sounds of water, birds chirping) Guy: "so...where are we?" Authors note: This was a lot like my first trip to red rocks, way too hot, getting lost and losing gear to Cat in the Hat...all cherished memories.

I just bought a touring kayak, so much fun!! The primary investment hurts, but then you are set for life...

Heads up, this is like the last place you can buy waterfront for less than a fortune.

Anybody ever climb on the crags around China Bend? My buddy is buying some property up there, we are going to move up there and build our compound.

As I recall, the beta was to firmly grasp the final hold, cut your feet loose and look down. A more memorable view is hard to find, stop, relax, and enjoy the life you have chosen.
-
Fear and Loathing III, how many times have I stared at the finishing holds, only to fail! It seems like I get close 2-3 times a year, only to have to go back to work for a month straight, ruining my tan and endurance....

The gear is mostly thin, finger sizes are good, except for a couple hand sizes also right on.
