Try gettting gas in Oregon after say 11pm, particularly in the smaller towns. You can't. All the stations are closed. And god forbid you get to pump your own after hours. But I avoid it mostly on principle. Fuck 'em.

That's why I get gas just before I cross into Oregon and try my damnedest to have enough gas to cross back before refueling. Oregon gas.

This seems to be a common theme from the people I talk to about houses these days, which really sucks for someone like me who wants to buy their first house in the near future.

Marie, good for you. Sounds like you really kept your head. I have very little experience with guns, but I intend to purchase a handgun in the near future. I want to do it right, so I took a gun safety class with hands-on experience at the range. I highly recommend taking a class to anyone that wants to get comfortable with them. I still want to get more range time before I make the purchase, but I know what to do and not to do now, and I'm comfortable both shooting one and being near them when others are shooting. It made a world of difference.

From what I read, the decision was more about states' rights than marijuana legalization, so it's not surpriusing that Thomas and Rehnquist were dissenting. Strange that Scalia wasn't.

I wish all that you say were true, Will. But I fear the social and religious conservative grip on the GOP is just stumbling, not dead. I would not be surprised if they weather this with no problem. They seem to have a knack for sluffing off bad press and potential catastrophes without much damage. Kudos to McCain, Voinovich and all those with them for standing up to the oppressors.

Doesn't matter why someone voted for W (or anyone else). If they ultimately placed their vote for an individual, then they supported that individual and their beliefs. If you don't want to support any of the choices, don't place a vote.
