  1. But the raven won't help you in ice or even really hard snow. That pick just plain sucks. For cheap usable axe check out the Grivel Pamir. Weighs a little more than a BD Raven, bu tthe pick is functional. Now I'm thoroughly confused. I've used my raven in hard snow and ice and it's worked just fine. I don't know where you're getting your information, but perhaps you should consider another source. I have found that my own experience is pretty reliable -<shrug>- Myabe I will try being someone else for a while...
  2. Down with E-bay on cc.com!!!!

  5. Thanks for bringing up an alpine rack. I'm learning trad from some craggers and I would like to know what a decent alpine rack would look like. I hardly think that I will need all of my hexes, and cams for cold rock.
  6. I'll bet The Wait for a partner was absolutely terrible. By the I saw your post it was Too Late Too Late to join you. So What? I said. I can run up Si on my own... Unfortunately, I left my lights on so my Battery needed some help before I went. After I hit the trail, I realized that Wherever I May Roam, it's The Struggle Within that really matters. After running up the trail, passing many a hiker, I found that the haystack was Trapped Under Ice. Sad But True, I was Helpless trying to climb the ice in my running shoes, so I went back to the car in shame...

    Bum Party

    This Story frightens me...
  8. An altimeter is a good investment, but learn to use a topo map and compass instead of relying on a GPS. Yep, that's my 2 cents... One more thing - there are a lot more than just volcanoes over here.
  9. He did it to himself. He never should have let anyone take his picture while he was wearing his blublockers and pimp hat.
  10. The loser of the "Post like" Catbirdseat contest. Webbing would definitely do a better job of spreading the forces out. It would melt out faster due to the larger surface area absorbing heat from the sun.
  11. Dude, would you tone it down? I find your reference to sport climbing offensive. More like gym climbing. Then is this a fatty dyno on an overhanging 11c?
  12. Down with E-Bay!!!! Bwahahaa!!!!.... oops.
  13. What exactly are you looking for? Red Cross Community First Aid (useless)? MOFA? WFR? What sort of rescue?
  14. Talking to a PT is a good idea, but can be expensive if you don't have insurance. My PT recommended a bunch of stuff like walking in sand and balancing on the injured foot in addition to more traditional resistance based PT exercises.

    Some call it commie radio...
  16. You missed it - BD had the Beal 9.7mm X 60m double dry for $120 about a week ago. It's not there now.

    St Paddy's Day

Damn it's cool being Irish... Cheers!
  18. I like having spray at the bottom. It's like a chewy center.
  19. Another option?
  20. Check your PM's
  21. Another mountie alternative...
  22. It's going to be some sort of measurement of your time at cc.com. "I remember when the 'How do you clip your belay biner to your harness?' thread was only four pages long."
  23. shat Shitted or did shit?
  24. I did this climb last summer. It was good time with a lot of loose rock and questionable protection. The sun was setting in pinks and purples across Mt Rainier right as we topped out. Check out the pic
  25. Where did the Irish family go on vacation? To a different bar
