Hey what does anyone's age or gender have to do with it? Hummers are stupid no matter who's behind the wheel!

I opted not to go with Opera, I like FF better. Is there any way to just turn off the ones that are going to get me in trouble at work?

Hey can we take it easy with the slutty lingerie pictures in the SUV thread? I know it's vaguely clever and all, with the Paris/Paris thing, but some of us look at cc at work and would like to continue to do so. Thanks for listening.

I like Lime Kitty a lot more than having my tax money paying for having my tax dollars pay for religious clubs to do mailings.

If what you are saying is true, the local land mgrs are probably abusing the Act. There is some piece about making a provisional exception for using chainsaws for TM in cases of extreme blowdown, unfortunately I don't know the details of this provision. If you could be so kind as to point up some specific instances, preferably with dates and locations, I'd be more than happy to do the homework both on the trail work you are speaking of, and of the rule for exception with regards to trail work. Also, I can't say I've ever seen a proper road that you could actually still drive on in a Wilderness. Where are those? For clarification, Wilderness areas are not the same as Parks. They can exist in Parks, but don't have to be. As far as helicopter work, it's allowed for use by the FS for certain types of maintenance like toilet cleaning and bridge work, but not for private use. This whole discussion would go foward with a lot more clarity if we could just discuss the Wilderness aspect of things and leave the overall bolt war for another day.

I think the issue may be the Wilderness thing. Not all bolts everywhere.

Every one of those floors I've seen has been really "bathtubby." Nothing wrong with just using a plain old groundsheet though. Josh, thanks for the update. Be sure to check back in here on your progress in making the thing non-stick enough to not be totally annoying. My experience with sil floors has been that if the ground is perfectly level (yeah, right!) it's fine, but if not, then it's slip and slide city. So let us know how it all comes out.

Apparently the fact that Infinite Bliss was obviously bolted with a power drill is a far larger issue than the trail. The land managers know the difference, and it has been noted. I was as surprised as you may be.

If you are referring to me, I'm merely stating what I think the big issues might be. Anchors are permitted in the Wilderness, but new trails are not. Erosion at the base of climbs can be a real eyesore, especially to a non-climber. I'm pretty conflicted about the whole sitchmo and am disinclined to speak strongly in favor or against the current access issue.

Nothing, I have to disagree with your assertion that the activists are looking for Wilderness violations that "suit their needs." There is a moratorium on new trail building, and with new routes come new trails. Also, the ALPS and others view the W'ness Act as something that creates a living legacy, and if we can't be good stewards of that, then maybe we don't even deserve to get to use it. When I say "we" I mean all users, not just climbers. I agree with others here who think the real issue is the new trails (and IMO the erosion at the base of climbs, which can be really bad) rather than the new rootes themselves. Far as your take on WTA, well, it's my thinking that you're oversimplifying their agenda.

Hey, leave Distel alone. He's a snart kid.

Actually, I wasn't aware of IG's relationship to FT. I don't have enough interest in all of this to read everything that's going on here....but I was wondering why this guy was calling me on the carpet about the NPR piece like we are in high school debate, and making claims about me not backing things up. Yep, he's right, I have better things to do with my time than that. But having said all of that, now that it's apparent who it is, I'll be sure to avoid discussions he's in. I just don't care for the guy.

This seems to be the way to get anything in life.

Ahhh....Fat Teddy is the same as that Martlet guy that got banned. The guy with way too much time on his hands. Now it all makes sense. Hopefully he will step over the line again real soon and get banned again.

You don't believe me, feel free to look it up yourself. I gave you all the information to do the research on this yourself.

I heard it on a report on All Things Considered the day Tenet announced his resignation. If you were to do a search of NPR's website, you might be able to find a transcript.

Condi and Colin have already indicated that they will not be serving after the elections.

It's really all about getting out there and trying on a bunch of packs. There are some newer designs that have a hip belt contoured to fit the female hips, can't describe it exactly, but she'll know it when she feels it. If it's for carrying a load of, say 25 pounds or more, twin webbing adjusters on each side of the belt help with the fine-tuning. Some of the packs out there have shoulder straps that are better-contoured to fit around breasts and deal with narrow shoulders and such.

Not speeding does not guarantee that you will not get a speeding ticket. I got one in Thorp about 2 years ago (actually, 2 years ago to the day, now that I think about that) when I wasn't speeding. Fighting it didn't work either, though the judge reduced the amount of the fine because I had a good driving record.

The only time(s) I successfully got out of a ticket: My friend Chantal was driving me home from Skaha. We were driving a little fast because it's a hella long drive and I'd gotten pretty banged up in a climbing fall. The Canadians are notorious for not giving warnings, but we got off with a warning. This gave us something to argue about for the remaining four hours of the drive. I said we got off with a warning because I was all in casts and obviously needed to go home, and she said it was because she was French, and that the cop was practicing good foreign relations. The other time was last year, I got nailed in that notorious little speed trap on 90 as you come into Issaquah. I had spaced out and let my speed get away from me a little bit. I was extremely apoplogetic and sincere, and the guy let me go w/o a ticket. He did refer to that particular speed trap as "shooting fish in a barrel." I can sort of see Snugtop all flustered and digging through her car, and if I'd been that cop, I wouldn't have had the heart to give her a ticket either. Edit: Ratboi, just being female doesn't automatically get you out of a ticket. I've gotten out of two, but had another four that I didn't get out of.

Woke me up, it was bright like daylight, I thought it was morning, but then it was dark and I went back to sleep. Weird.

I never got more attention in my life but for when I was riding my sport bike and wearing full leathers.
