It's also mighty nice if you can tie it up between trees, that gets rid of the interior poles. Sure, it's going to be draftier than a tent, but it's not a tent,. it's a tarp.
The current Twin Peaks is made of sil/pu versus the Betalight, which is sil/sil. The Betalight is a bit lighter and ten bucks cheaper.
I think you are dreaming about not having a bug problem with a shelter like this. I plan to only use my Betalight in non-bug conditions.
I have a Betalight too. Slept like a baby and dry as a bone in all-night rain and snow about a month ago in it. I only have a few nights in it so far, but I love it.
Now I gotta get me a bivi sack to use in it for when the weather is inclement.
I was just on that Dingford trail a few days ago. It goes to Hester and Myrtle Lakes, though that's not where I went.
The trail is not in very good shape, and there is not a lot in the way of views.
For the money, I'd go Hardscrabbles (route is in Beckey I think) or La Bohn Gap.
The MFK is not a great place for dayhiking unless you are into off-trail/'schwacking.

Bah! I was out in the middle of BFE in the MFk area yesterday afternoon. It was an incredible show, and was going on all around us, big multi-pronged bolts and some of the loudest thunder I've ever heard....and at no time did either me or my partner feel that we were going to get hit.
We just sat on a big old foam pad in a slight depression and watched the awesome forces of nature. It was quite a sight.
Kinda glad to not be up high on some hill or rock or whatever though.
I was setting up a show at the Key Arena this morning. My workmate and I were putting together some looooong steel bridles for the rigging, I go to check the bridle leg lengths and one of them is wrong. As I'm fixing it, I flipped my partner some crap for setting it up wrong....and then my redo is wrong too. Now the leg is too short instead of too long.
Oh, Mer, you are right....the women's version probably has to have both cuddling and retail therapy on it....I guess it's either newspapers or udon noodles, no matter how you slice it.
Some people would add work to that list.
I know, it's sick, but, well, it feeds the soul of some people.
For me not so much work, but a highly creative activity, like painting, is needed on the list.
Interesting concept for sure.
