I'm down with the idea of a sting operation this weekend. Let's string the sucker up by his feet from the Monkey Face anchors. i'm down for the sting, let me know when/where, i got a big ass dog who is a total puss, but it would be fun to put peanut butter on the bastard and watch my dog chub on him(dude, that sounded really bad )
  2. I spent a week up by ritter/lk catherine and thousand island. I was feeling nostalgic so I was reading about muir's time in the parts. boy, sitting in my down bag and fancy tent made me feel like a sally. next time i will definately travel with a rolled up blanket, some tea, and crusts of bread, and then I will be a true cascade hard man!
  3. quote: Originally posted by glen: yeah, I've spent a lot of time in that area in the summer, but I havn't made it up in the winter yet. This will be my first time actually riding a lift there. I think the eastern sierras are pretty much my fav spot on earth. climbing, snow, hot springs, beautiful and just plain awesome. Too bad there's virtually no job market for geologists! hey mmcmurra- no fair on the sunshine comment. It's hard enough to keep working in an office with a window! I would think with all the geo activity down in mammoth there would be a need for a scientist like yourself... aren't acres of trees dieing due to noxious volcanic fumes?
  4. quote: Originally posted by glen: All work. All the time. Heading to mammoth on thursday. mmmmm mammoth, i've only been down there in the summer, must be pretty sweet in the winter time
  5. lemme know when your coming down allison, we'll have the first central oregon pub club. no sign of the snow letting up yet
  6. i'm always pretty surprised to find other people online during the weekends... do you guys/gals work like yours truly? Or do you just love reading spray... who else is stuck at work? this morning i was able to ride the freshies before the mountain opened to the masses. Knee deep supah light freshies, it was bliss. It is so odd to ski on a resort hill with no one else around.
  7. very cool park, the b'cones, and the best part is your hella close to kings canyon

  13. ha! my vacation was going to seattle to have quality time with my inlaws and visit my old msft homiez... so yep, hangin in cubicles, TPS reports. you should roll over here tomorrow, supposed to snow straight till sunday!
  14. so i was up in good ol seattle last week, and it was great to see the homiez... but now i'm back at home in the muthaland, and i'm working on getting rid of my nasty ass seattle sludge cough. I don't know how i did it, but I have not been sick once since i've been living here, I go back to seattle for 2 days in the winter!!! and i get sick!??? wow, i don't miss the damp sickness causin winters up there guys!

  17. what's c.c.?
  18. I posted the link and story on the main access page... this is pretty bogus, but at least they are going to repair the bridges and not take the Olympic NP route and let them get washed out and never repair them (enchanted vally access). I know there is a major movement in the park service to preserve wilderness areas, and new construction is highly scrutinized. when my friend in yosemite needs to make any modifcations to any "historical structure" he has to go through all sorts of red tape. so on that note (i'm getting off thread topic)... why the proposed new developments in MRNP??? anyhow, i'm making no sense now.
  19. dr jay-my roomate had the surgery done and complained about his night vision. He said the "halo's" around car headlights we're pretty bad... is this temporary, or does this trippy effect continue? My night vision right now is pretty bad and am afraid if I had the surgery done it would only get worse. I'm considering prescription sunglasses, but I usually just suck it up with my contacts and leave them in overnight when i'm on an epic. TIMM@Y
  20. official pub club logo?
  21. Jim's little sister wanted us to post the following on her behalf: quote: >From the little sister: Jim's moving to rehab in Seattle today--it's going to be a long haul, so keep thinking good thoughts for him. If I've ever known anybody who's strong enough to pull through something like this, it's Jim. Blakley, you're right. Jim is 'a fucking rock.' My thanks (and myfamily's) to Jon, Chad, Woods--and the rest of you who were out at Vantage with him. Hope someone is forwarding you the updates.
  22. My Best so far: Marmot Pass, Olympics:A family complete with horses had hiked up to the pristine alpine meadow, and as i was hiking down I noticed the dad was riding rodeo style, complete with lasoo around the meadow, chasing a marmot. He got the rope around the marmot's neck and to my amazement, he then gave the rope to his kids and let them go to town on the poor thing. I felt like I was in La Pine. South Spur, Adams:enough said. but i've seen multiple dudes straight outta southern king county wearing blue jeans, hush puppies, and cool silky shirts standing on pikers peak looking for the cyrstal meth they dropped somewhere. Middle of the wilderness in Yosemite:I was doing a thru hike and was easily 20 miles from any trailhead when I encountered a young gent with dreads who smelt like kind muir hut walking along in birks, and only had a gallon jug of water around his neck. he must have been searching for the truth or something, but he sure was magical. and jon and i spotted jesus in the north cascades once. it was pretty amazing.
