Hey, I have that phrase patented! However, I want to compliment you both for stepping up and being responsible parents, it's the most important thing most of us will ever do. Good to see you getting some still and getting some good mileage in in the cold! Brrr. Good job and very inspiring! BTW, my youngest is 17 and just flaked out one me skiing for tomorrow. Nice to be getting the freedom back. So I get to fix the roof now.... -
"I thought Rep wanted less gov't in our lives?" No action of theirs has ever indicated that this was the case has it?

I have one for later. BTW, "Old" Larry's correct moniker is "Big" Larry. (alt names Clif and Lash, for Lash Larou isn't it?) Cause Small Larry is Larry Harpe. I saw Larry Harpe's pic on the back of Urban Climber mag this month in a Mad rock ad. He's on a miniature bike, with like 5" wheels, and he's got a cowboy hat on, a cig dangling from the lip, and a Mad rock pad strapped to his back somewhere @ Moab.

You mean after all the mean horrible wretched unspeakable things we did to some of these folks, after agreeing to allow this kind of thing with them: we should reneg now and offer these people welfare stamps instead? If you are so upset, why not take up the cause with the Japanese who are sending factory ships out still. The horror and scale of that kind of industrial fishing and the indescrimant killing of other species is shocking.

Say hello to my little friend whom I've named "Dawg" in yer honor. The Dawgs warming up for springtime. BTW, I'm not the ethics police, theres already too many Elmer Gantry types running around trying to police the world anyway: I wouldn't want to be on the force cause Raindawg there wants that job real bad anyway. However, it seems to me that we should treat others the way we ourselves want to be treated. If someone keeps trying a line, and they cleaned it extensively, until they wander off, I'd give them some room. Course, I most likely couldn't get up it anyway unless it was an elderly fella trying to climb with an Oxygen tank or sumpin'.

REI outlet has a pretty good deal going on. If you buy before Dec 7th, you get 20% off any one item in the REI outlet. Also if you use coupon code HOLIDAY7, you get $20 off of any purchase $100 or more. So if you combine the two, you can possibly get close to 40% off of any one item in the outlet. I think....

Either the Association of Assorted Jerkoffs, or the American Alpine Journal. Probably the latter. Congrats!

I was sittng around with a bunch of famous French climbers back in the 70's or early 80's and asked them what they did to train. They were all confused, sat there and quietly stared at me totally clueless. See, training wasn't something they did or even have in their lexicon. Doing is all they knew. They'd just get after it and do. Course for work they all guided full time too, in the winter most of them guided ski descents too, so it was year round work for them. But for the rest of us, like Kitergal, we need to fit something in someplace. I like Ivans idea of squeezing it in, you must have been in hellish good condition, and doing that helps for the altitude as well.

More lexicon: Falling off or about to fall off a short bit: Don't ya say "Take"? Falling off a short bit to moderate istance more: "Takkkkeee meee" (turning up the volume before jumping off) Falling off a long distance: TAKE ME REAL HARD. Half way up and out of sight a multi-pitch ya say, "Hey: schaderone do ya jdfjedic xijd0a doeo tvld me dere? ", repeat 3 or 4 times when your partner cannot understand. Thats what I learned in Vegas last time.

Leader only says "Slack", or just STFU and pulls up steady with the rope to clip.

Oh: it still might be Trask. I see: "This article is about the English novelist. For the Irish politician, see Hugh Conway (Lord Treasurer). Hugh Conway the nom-de-plume of Frederick John Fargus (26 December 1847 - 15 May 1885) was an English novelist, born in Bristol, the son of an auctioneer. He was intended for his fathers business, but at the age of thirteen joined the training-ship Conway in the Mersey. In deference to his fathers wishes, however, he gave up the idea of becoming a sailor, and returned to Bristol, where he was articled to a firm of accountants until on his fathers death in 1868 he took over the family business. While a clerk he had written the words for various songs, adopting the nom-de-plume Hugh Conway in memory of his days on the training-ship. Mr Arrowsmith, the Bristol printer and publisher, took an interest in his work, and Fargus' first short story appeared in Arrowsmiths Miscellany. In 1883 Fargus published through Arrowsmith his first long story, Called Back, of which over 350,000 copies were sold within four years. A dramatic version of this book was produced in London in 1884, and in this year Fargus published another story, Dark Days. Ordered to the Riviera for his health, he caught typhoid fever, and died in Monte Carlo. Several other books from his pen appeared posthumously, notably A Family Affair. [edit] References"
