  1. Hmm, I never thought of the Contis as bad tires, just the opposite in fact.
  2. Perhaps it is something like that (arsenic in iron in retardant.) They put all kinds of crap in fertilizers.
  3. I heard something last year after our big fire season about how there were also high levels of arsenic in the retardent chemicals, and it was all gonna wash into the streams and stuff.
  4. Few points - I never tried, but don't like the idea of fixed gear in traffic. Scares the sh%t outta me in fact! That's why I suggested a BMX freewhell rig. Tires - I used to ride the skinniest $20 Continental tires I could get, like 18mm. These did me fine up and down curbs, and the occasional flight of stairs. Pumped up to 100PSI they were zippy. Just replace them often. None of these fat ass 2.whatever "hybrid tires." Oh yeah, slicks work in the rain at that size too. More rubber on the road. My bike was a cheap ass TREK road bike. I put straight bars on it, and MTB levers. Then I had a wheel built for the BMX freewheel, and clippless pedals. That was one of my favourite bikes ever. It later raod from here to Halifax (with gears again).
  5. That's because girls are nicer.
  6. That's because liberals are nicer.
  7. Isn't that what it was rated???
  8. And too This is one reason that they have started putting bolt/chain anchors on the more well used descent routes as well.
  9. Jeez, I'd starve to death...

  11. The gate at the top is always locked. You may be able to get a key from the Black Tusk Snowmobile Club. I think there may be a gate at the bottom too, and I am unsure of it's status. You should be able to drive to snowline if you are not stopped by a gate at the bottom. The views up there are spectacular.
  12. Quick, go look, it's there right now!!
  13. Hmm, I own the company I work for too...
  14. tlg, I think weight may matter, as I have tried them out and had them slip. I am bigger than you. It was funny though, one slipped, another one didn't, so I think there may be some QC issues...
  15. Dude, that's one's totally over the line!!!!! Just kidding. Nope, she's not visiting the SSMF.
  16. ...
  17. Wow! I totally disagree with you there layton. JW has one of the cooler pitches in Squish IMO. Birds of Prey OTOH pretty much was a dirty grovel fest-POS! Do Eagle's Domain and then rap off, or head up Pipeline...
  18. Board lasted shoes depend on the board as part of the structure of the sole, if it is totally disintegrated then it is going to be hard to resole the shoe... Slippers never had a board as part of the shoe, they depend on other parts to hold them together.
  19. sure whatever you must be really desperate.
  20. Anybody know where I can get the actual specs for the tele norm???
  21. OK OK, I know they aren't guidebooks, but a couple of my prizes are: FUNDAMENTALS OF ROCK CLIMBING by the MIT Outing Club... 1956 That one came with an original receipt for all the rack and rope too. Total incl book??? $52.22 Belaying the Leader AN OMNIBUS ON CLIMBING SAFETY by the Sierra Club... 1959 BTW, I live in a house with an alarm and three pit bulls.
  22. Murray already posted this in the BC Forum, but i htought it should get crossposted here: Link to original post...
  23. I've overnight hiked with the Genie. It's definetely lacks places to put stuff on the outside, but that's why it weighs 16 oz. I have even figured a cool trick for carrying a pair of skis. I don't know if I can describe it, but maybe I will get around to taking a pic if anyone's interested.
