Am I out of the loop? I'd thought vol. one was already out as a 3rd edition awhile back. 1st edition was the dark brown pebble cover, 2nd was the beige pebble cover, and 3rd was a slick dark brown with the goofy Beckey-with-flowers photo on the back. Maybe it was brand new when I saw it (5 weeks ago I think) and I failed to grasp the recent vintage. I only casually glanced at it, and noticed that the NE Buttress of Dragontail had a much better picture, but the line drawn was still in error. Somewhere on the back burner I have a TR from this summer simmering which needs a little more research on other lines on the buttress and some more doctoring of photos with the circles and arrows on the front and the paragraph on the back to be used as evidence against us.

The term "black" is actually about carbon build up, and in no way should be interepreted as a racial slur, especially by such a hot tempered pugilist. The spray-to-info ratio on this thread is beginning to suggest a change of venue may be appropriate. (now that I've done my part for that trend as well )

I had some, but you wouldn't have wanted them. I tried to foist them off on my crew and they wouldn't have have any of it. I'll drop you a note next time it comes up, but it may be a few months.

It would take some research to determine who's done it more, and I for one do not have the stomach for it.

I have always found it interesting the women in the Disney cartoons (Pocahontas, Mulan, Beauty & the Beast, etc.) are really hot and perfect (not that I mind). The Little Mermaid was the first Disney with "jiggle."

Tintin and Finn Family Moomintroll? Dru, that's a classical education! My hats off to you, I didn't discover those until I was an adult.

You didn't know it was freed last year at new wave 5.10b?

I haven't spent much time oogling southern hemisphere climbs, but certainly the south face of Aconcagua is a very different kettle of fish from the north side.

Yep Col., I've got a whole crew of friends who will be at JT over Thanksgiving, and a few who will be there longer. Think of it as Rope-Up but only about half the people. I'll PM you some contact info.

I'm looking for some people who would be interested in doing some climbs and writing about them on my site. You'll have a tough row to hoe, and you need to decide what your audience is. Trip reports for Talapus and Dewey Lakes aren't going to cut it if you're looking to be a climbing site. Much of the website terrain is already covered too, depending on your style and interest. This site, Scott'teryx's NWOG site, Summitpost, Alpinelite, ClimbingWashington, and probably a host of others I'm unaware of, not to mention many regional folks great personal sites have the issue covered from many different angles and styles. The presence of ads on your site suggests you're trying to make money doing this? That's gonna be even tougher. I recommend you conduct an in depth survey of what's out there, and consider what you can add or do better, treat it like writing a business plan. Soliciting trip reports from this site will not make your idea a success. good luck.

You say that like its a bad thing.

I'd suggest trying a bunch on, and pick the one that fits right. If its comfy, you'll use it more often and be happier doing it. Also, run a search on the Gear Critic category, I know there are already quite a few opinions posted. [ 11-11-2002, 09:32 PM: Message edited by: Off White ]

You just can't get this caliber of spray action on rec.climbing, can you!

Life is long, scars are many. I'll try and stick to the amusing ones: A nice grey dot smack in the middle of the lifeline on my left palm, result of riding on a skateboard (with old clay wheels) with my hands in my jacket pocket. The inevitable collision with a small rock stopped the board cold. Objects which are in motion tend to stay in motion, so I continued forward and when my feet hit the ground the pencil in my pocket neatly skewered my palm and broke off. I have two small scars on my face, courtesy of the neighbor's dog when I was three. Preliminary investigation suggested that old collies did not like to be messed with when they ate. Further investigation two weeks later, following the scientific method, proved this hypothesis and added the second scar.

Tom Leykis has a good rack? You mean like Rush Limbaugh used to sport at the peak of his heavyweight condition? Blecch, thats sick. Polite Spray Disclaimer: Well, for me anyway. If that's what you're into, well hey, it takes all kinds. Have fun.

Yeah, ditto on the thumbs up, thanks for the story. All the sweeter since I lived in Tucson 1986-87, thrashed around just enough to appreciate the nature of the Arizona backcountry, and counted Karl Rickson among my buddies.

Of course, you are not the teacher involved, and this is cut and pasted from a widely disseminated e-mail humor piece. I thought you right wing types were all up in arms about intellectual property, shouldn't you attribute rather than plagarize? But yeah, sometimes we're telling different stories at the same time, and thread degeneration seems to be the rule, your quotation is quite appropriate and brought an uncontrollable smile to my face. Uhh, oops, sorry, I apologize for the lapse into civility, you right wing baby eater: eat me asseyes

There you go again Ray... I'm a stingy retro kind of guy, and I'm still using my old Salewa's with neoprene straps. Say what you will, they're not very heavy, fit any shoe I own, and they've never come off. Recent reports of lost crampons on Eldorado and Shuksan have made me appreciate that. That said, they're pretty minimal for steep waterfall ice, and messing with straps is unpleasant when its really cold.

To Tony Blair: "The problem with the French is they have no word for entrepreneur." en·tre·pre·neur Pronunciation Key (ntr-pr-nûr, -nr) n. A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture. [French, from Old French, from entreprendre, to undertake. See enterprise.]

Hear hear Beck, thats a sweet area with some great views (if you get them this weekend). Hope you have as much fun as you possibly can this weekend. TLG, you should join 'em if you can, should be relaxing compared to the Observation Rock Shootout.

Juan, I'm curious as to why you are using a guide?
