I have a one word project for 2003: More.

Looks good, familiar format. You've overlooked the "Rock Climbing" category. By design?

Glacier said: My experience suggests you can't go wrong there. My step-son, who's now 21 (but was once both 7 and 9), still has several large tubs full that he swears never to part with. It seems they play an integral part in his future plans to be the Wierd Uncle. He will rant though about how modern Legos tend to be too specific, and kids all too often treat them as models: the kit makes one thing and that's it. The ability to combine all those pieces into something you've made up yourself is where that toy really shines. But then again, I am a general contractor, so maybe that colors my perceptions...

Why bother with the title, for $40 he can buy his way out of it, just like you did Trask. Not that "enigma" is a bad title for you, its simply more dignified than the one you earned.

Greg said: Yes Greg, you're being paranoid. Forget about what you hear on TV, do a little biography work on yourself and your friends. Did this abduction ever happen to you? Anyone in your family? Anyone you personally know? Anyone on this board? For most people, certainly for most of us on this board, life is just not that bad or scary. Very few children are ever abducted by strangers, and in the instances where it does happen, odds are a gun would do no good because the parent is not right there. I don't think anyone would look at you and think they could snatch your child with impunity. But as a friend once pointed out, how many five gallon buckets do you have around your house? Drowning: now there's something to worry about.

Good argument Greg, I buy it. Sorry to admit it, but I'm not all that familiar with this piece of legislation. On the surface it sounds like this bill will be toast when it hits the courts. Three cheers for checks and balances. I'll take a look at the bill a little later. Thanks.

NxNW: The quote came from some comic in The Funny Times that struck me awhile back. I'm overdue for an autsig remodel though, now that you mention it.

Well, I'm outraged that ya'll have hijacked us into character assasination. Anyway, yes Fairweather, I'm not in favor of the recent campaign finance reform, but I don't know that I embrace the notion that dollars equal speech. In any case, it feels less of a threat to individual liberty than the current information insanity being railed against elsewhere. Campaign finance reform is in theory intended to diffuse power, while the other issue is working to concentrate it in particular entities, so this is why it doesn't make me as nervous. You as an individual are still free to give your money to the candidate of your choice.

Dude, like we have any effect on that?

Whilst I was amassing frothy quips, you come up with some good research Mr. Freeclimb. Thanks for the info.
-
Uncle, If I've never told you that you then that is purely my oversight.

So when are the nuptials big boy? You just know this would be THE social event of CC.com, far exceeding even the rope up. Of course, I understand you'd have some annullment stuff to deal with first... hugs & kisses Off

Zero gully cont (error on reply feature)

Don: I don't know him, but John Roper has a stack of FA's in the cascades, mostly moderate stuff, often somewhat remote. He's been a busy lad over the years. I don't think he's Canadian, if thats what you were wondering. Oh, and thanks to the both of you for the TR's. -
Here's another question: the signature files look like just another line of text in the message, is there some default way to set things up so its in its own little box? I keep reading Tim's "Don't Hate Me.." and think "why does he keep saying that?"
-
Well, the new look will take a little getting used to. Looks like the stock graemlins & posting icons are a fuzzier low-rez image, but thanks for adding the moondancer to the roster of choices. I dunno about the "rate this thread" and "rate this user" features, seems well nigh useless, and knowing the users of this board, rather subject to abuse. Tim, its only Thursday and not even noon, you're ahead of schedule and under budget. Are you running for office?

Here's another bit of info for those having a hard time logging in: the new software doesn't recognize spaces in your login name. Mine used to be Off White but now has to be Off_White.

Have fun, wish I was going. Get a chile relleno at Amigos for me. If you need a day away from the hordes at the Buttermilks or Happy Boulders, go cragging at Little Egypt or down south near Lone Pine at the Alabama Hills, You'll probably have it to yourselves. 15 or 16 hours sounds about right. Remember, always go to bed before you go to sleep.

I was thinking that it seemed unusual for the N. Cascades Highway to still be open at Thanksgiving, but a quick check shows that the latest closure was Dec 22 in 1997, and in 76-77 it didn't close all winter. Still, I'm ready for a little storm action.

I thought I'd also heard the fee increase reported as a done deal on the radio, along with the fact of 11,000 climber visits last year. A third of a million dollars would be a significant chunk of money, wonder how they plan to spend it. From the MRNP website: quote: Climbers pay a $15 per person, per climb, Mountaineering Cost Recovery fee upon arrival in the park, in order to obtain their Climbing Permit, which also serves as their Wilderness Camping Permit. An annual climbing pass is available for $25. Note: If climbers make a reservation for a climb, climbing fees are due at the time of the reservation. Backpackers, and anyone else who camps outside of auto campgrounds, must obtain a free Wilderness Camping Permit before camping. Permits are required year-round and are issued in person only after you arrive in the park. The permits may be obtained at the Wilderness Information Centers at Longmire and White River, or at any ranger station during the summer. Winter permits are available at the Longmire Museum. source

I thought I heard it was a budget cutting experiment. The two routes are I-90 and Highway 2, aren't they? They figure its okay, because no one who matters drives old cars without modern underbody protection anyway.

Gack, double vision, room is spinning, getting queasy, I think I shouldn't have eaten that lukewarm corn dog... [ 11-22-2002, 04:07 PM: Message edited by: Off White ]

I think its all courtesy of the de-regulated voluntary self testing regime now in place for the US meatpacking industry. Frankly, I'm shocked that DFA has not yet mentioned Fast Food Nation.

Nice to see you again Dwayner!
